Good question .

The wings will be removable along with the tail boom.

I will probably take off the landing gear ( I designed them to be screw mounted ) and the top turtle deck is removable .

The main rotor hub will probably have a cotter pin holding it on and the blades are a tube sliding in a tube .

In some cases yes I use thin styrene. In the case of the raised panels on the air intakes . I use 2 layers of tape and used the 2 part Bondo glazing compound to fill in the taped area and after hard come back and lightly sand .

The port side came out great using this method. But the starboard needs a little work.

I also need to raise the parallelogram-ish patch behind the exaust on both sides.

I need to give a shout out to the guys who are getting the full builds . 9-10 full builds at this time.

I want to order the paint for this project and need to see what amount of colors to get.

I am pretty sure we all have our fav paint schemes .

Dark brown on tan field. Afghanistan invasion.
Dark green on tan field . Cold War Years
Green on light gray field. Modern

Please let me know what colors ( you full build guys ) want. ASAP.

HELP !!!! I NEED HELP !!!!!!!

Stuart just sent me 2 excellent pics of the Hind . Looking at them I discovered a MAJOR FLAW in the Trumpeter kit . In the real Hind the intake cowlings are shaved in the middle and are touching. The Trumpeters are totally separate . This just messes everything up . Looks like it is redo time. :evil: :evil: :evil:

Damn you Trumpeter or You Stuart ???? :?

Unless this is a later model . There is a secondary lip on the cowling that is really pronounced ( mine does not have it ) and I see in some pics it looks just like what I have.

Anybody in the know about this design feature because I really do not want to redo it if it is not needed !!!!!!!!

Nobody on earth is making this, its a work of ART, and it looks perfect to me, I don't think a redo is necessary, the picture you have is a modern version, they slimmed the design for weight and aerodynamics. Don't change it !

Well , I changed it . I am not quite done with it.

I spliced the two collar rings together and fan cut the cowling so they can crimp together adjusting to the inward move.

I have the first application of putty on it and will probably have to sand and repeat at least a couple of times .

This just slows everything down .

Progress is not moving forward but sideways .

I have enlisted Daremo to come in on this project.

His casting abilities are excellent and he will be casting the smaller pieces.

This will cut the work load in half .

Well I fixed the intake issue . I just need to tweak the crease between the nacels right at the rings and it is fixed .



I also cut down the filters. Jay copied the filter just as Trumpeter had it.
They made it more like a light bulb.
It needed to be more like a mushroom.
Cut down version is on the left.


This is my old vacuum plate.
The vent allowed too much air and was about 6x6 usable and was heated by a waffle maker . :D :D :D




Here is my new and improved vacuum machine.
Powered by a pizza baker .
After 3-4 mins worth of warm up it will heat the plastic in 1-1/2 mins !!!!!!!!



I also got some new vacuum plastic and it works great !!
I fabbed the wiper blades and front probe.
CAREFUL.... YOU CAN POKE YOUR EYE OUT.





I am not 100% certain but I am dangerously close for the final mockup.
I need to look things over tomorrow and if everything checks out I will be posting final staging pics .
Then it is time to break her down and the mold making process will begin.

!!!! WARNING !!!

MONDAY IS APPROACHING QUICKLY GUYS.

Alright guys that is it .
Bird Dog got the last kit @ $300

In reality all I ordered of the landing gear , decals and stickers was 30 . I now have to make re-orders of those parts .

Price is now at $400 and full builds will be $800 unless we talked before the price increase.

Thanks to you all who have precipitated in the pre-sale of this project and those who will in the future.

I am so close to finishing the prototype but every time I think I got it, there is another detail that needs tending to .

I do not want to put ANYTHING out there that is half ass.

And you guys forking out the money expect to get what you are paying for.

This just may be my best release to date !!!

But my Sdkfz 222 is still my favorite .

All right guys after about 2 years and 6 months . I think that I have the prototype done .

Except the rear fuselage .... I dropped it and one of the antennas popped off and flew into oblivion and the rear rotor broke.

After I make this piece AGAIN and repair the rotor I will make final pics and then it is molding time.
