I only have the BAT-AT mold and it is horrible. Way too fat and rubbery. I'm glad I held out for this version before buying a pair. The clear stand makes me think of the 12" version.

Go figure. I have seen these several times at TRU and completely ignored them, thinking they were shit-brown repaints. Now I may have to get some and give them a paint job.

Banthaskull has this comparisson pic:

Looking at the comparison pic there, I think my major objection is not the color of the bike but rather the chocolate brown plastic used for the engine, rails, etc. It just looks horrid to me, like some kind of mexican knock-off.

But you're right, the new handles do look really good, and I do like the idea of the stand. Regardless, I think I'll be waiting on the inevitable properly colored re-release.

I think it's neat looking in and of itself, but it's frustrating when you're specifically collecting the vintage carded stuff and you can't find a figure except on the blue card. Neat looking, but it needs to be used elsewhere, like on the legends line or something.

Don't put your chocolate in my peanut butter!

You'd hate me then. Whenever I saw them, and wanted to get a figure from the wave, I bought the vintage card version. Heh.

I saw those at Walmart a few weeks back and can tell I will regret leaving the Leia behind. I wish they would release new versions of Luke and Leia on Endor with camo garb to match my Han and Rebel troops.

Nah, I don't begrudge openers. I'm a buy-two-open-one kind of guy myself. It just sucks that the vintage stuff which is already hard to find got further polluted with blue cards. Sure, the prequel vintage cards are plentiful, but it's because those movies suck donkey balls and no one wants the figures regardless of the packaging. But the OT vintage figures, you're lucky to see any, and it's usually prune-face or another sand trooper.

pcs, I agree that there are plenty of other figures that need the vintage figure treatment. Plus, so many vehicles. What about an X-wing, Vader's TIE, and Slave-I? All of those have been put out recently as TRU exclusives in craptacular packaging. You'd think they'd sell much better in a vintage box because it would draw in the openers and MIB people. But no, it's large, den't accumulating window boxes instead.

Poncho Leia in particular was released on vintage packaging in the VTSC line back in '07. While I'm not a huge fan of that particular figure's design, for display purposes, it'll work nicely.

I got the MTT for my birthday (truth be told it was for my kids) and I got my boys the Big Milenium Falcon (the TRU exclusive for X-mas). They have discovered Star Wars during the break in new joe stuff. I have to admit I will buy some new stuff here and there for them but I collected everything from 1995 to 2007 (even the exclusive stuff) so I have been getting out the big plastic tubs of SW figs and vehicles for the kids. I will keep up the here and there collecting , tho I know it will slow for the Retalliation stuff but I will keep a eye out for new SW stuff or cool updated version. BTW I would love a updated version of Dash Rendar and the chic who was Xizors second in command, Guri I think. Thats was the one figure from SotE that never got made.

There were rumors a while back that they were going to do one in ESB colors, but I think most people assumed that it would see a Vintage release. Now that Vintage is going on hiatus (except for some "best of" waves, i.e. the figures that never got out of the warehouse because of prequel pegwarmers), that all comes into question.

We did recently see a Class II prequel Slave-I, just a dramatically shrunk version of the new and improved battle pack version. It is really sad looking, as in smaller than Joe-scale.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure a proper-sized, properly deco'd Slave I is in our future.

Yep, that's it. I knew I'd seen that somewhere. But alas, the "hiatus"... who knows what that means. Maybe "wait until 2014" or "wait until hell freezes over".

Maybe TRU got cold feet on some of their SW exclusives not selling. Judging by the pricing on the Vintage BMF, they don't really plan to sell any... or they plan to make back all their money on about a dozen customers.

As long as they use the ML style articulation, and don't try to go for the Movie Masters style, I'd grab a few of the more popular characters. Vader, Fett, a Phase 1 Clone...maaaybe a Jedi or two...depending.

I think I'd end up being all-in, at least for the OT characters. But I can only imagine the distribution woes and agony over a line of $20+ SW figures. My stomach churns just thinking about it.

Chewbacca BAF!!!... but nobody can find that shortpacked cantina patron that has his right leg... Hasbro says they've been made, but they're in retailer warehouses because the previous wave of Jar-Jar and Anakin are clogging pegs. But some guy in Iowa claims to have found a case of them at "Ross"..... Arrrrgh! And Bespin Luke is this year's SDCC exclusive. Good luck with that!

It hasn't even been announced, and I already hate this line. ;)

I found a Storm Trooper (the one with the helmet-head sculpt, no clone wars face underneath) for 5 dollars at TJ Maxx yesterday.

That dust-covered Phantom Menace stuff clogs up every shelf I see at TRU, Wal-Mart and Target.

So they're finally doing an articulated 1:12 scale line?

I'm surprised they're not like the new 1:6 figures:

http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_012813a.htm

Those are on par with the 12" figures they released in '78. Figures that would have been on the shelf in nineteen seventyfuckingeight are on the shelves in twenty thirteen. Sickening.

Several nuggets from the article:

New toys are on a bigger scale and will focus on characters from the original movie trilogy.
The first wave of four, due out in early to mid-August, includes Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Fighter flight suit, fan-favorite droid R2-D2, bad guy Darth Maul and an Imperial Sandtrooper.

1) Since when was Darth Maul in the Original Trilogy?
2) What is Hasbro's fascination with the Sandtrooper? It's been nearly four years since we got a plain old stormtrooper, but each wave of the vintage collection seemed to have sandtroopers in every crack.

The current "vintage"-style line of 3¾ figures will also continue under the Black Series banner.

That's hella-awesome.

"Our focus here is the adult collector, the dad,"

Ok, so will they make them easy to find? Because lots of dad's don't have the time or patience to hunt for the shortpacked Grand Moff...

I had the same thought about Darth Maul. Although you could argue that 3 out of 4 figures could still constitute a focus, just not an exclusive focus. I bet that's how they spin it.

Have you been following the Clone Wars Series? Maul is back, & the next round of edits in the OT will heavily feature Mau,l Sam L Jackson & Jar Jar Binks. Because even disney sees the fun in torturing us with Jar Jar.
