It is nice getting something to turn out right, tends to make up for all the shit that doesn't turn out well at all.

I do hate looking back at old customs and realize how shitty they look due to lack of skill or parts or both.

But I am trying to stick to my strengths and avoid thing I'm terrible at.. like painting heads lol

Same here.

I'm still bummed about my Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS not panning out. I'm thinking of reviving it now that I'm a little more comfortable with Milliput.

Anyhoo, back to the topic at hand!

I'd be MUCH more inclined to but tons more cast stuff if it was cast in correct colors...heads being the biggie...though I imagine matching skin tones when casting is even more difficult than matching paint

To be honest, I used to cast all my heads in flesh tone. But all I got were complaints about how the casts didn't match the flesh colors of the figures that people were using them with. Like, somehow, I'm supposed to know what bodies each head that gets purchased is being used with, and I can somehow match the skintones for every cast that I make? So I stopped, and cast everything in a light gray now.

Haha...yeah, I can see how that would be challenging...maybe you need to employ a psychic...though that won't help with costs :D

Personally, I like when a head is cast in flesh tone... if it doesn't match the tone of the figure I'm using it with, it's my job to doctor it until it does... but I like the base being there in case it gets scratched.

Case in point, TJ did a run of heads for me recently in blue, because I wanted to make some Chiss customs.

I think $3-4 is fair for a basic, quality head sculpt. I'm fine paying $5 or $6 for a convention exclusive or hard to find sculpt if it's fresh out of the gate, but after a while I feel like those should come down to the $4 range too. I'd expect to pay $6-$8 for a really detailed piece with a lot of tendrils, tentacles, dreadlocks etc. Just because it's probably a tough cast.
