I was under the impression that when they used the term " incentive" that it would be a figure that ws intended to make you actually buy the subscription. this was a giant fuck you to those that bought the sub thinking they'd actually get something worth while

that being Said. I don't mind thIs figure so much (mainly cause I dudnt waste money on the sub)and will try to get my hands on one because a) I've never made a proper one and I think If I give him the head from the DTC Grand Slam it will look better and b) I'm a lazy bastard and just don't want to repaint a flash and c) I wanna do the original 13 using newer less dated parts

As a GI Joe collector and not a scale collector, I like it. This is an O13 that has yet to be made and needed to be to help finish the original early run.

I too like the idea. However not as a $30+ "incentive" "Free" "Special" figure. This is a pure dick move by the club, plain and simple.

If this figure was thrown into the PoC line or the 30th line... yes I could accept that. It would be a "new" figure on card and worth $7-$10 even though it would most likely peg warm. But not like this. This is just wrong. :crying:

I wonder if they try to do a 3rd subscription series, if this will kill preordered full subs?

I mean, it's a figure that offers absolutely nothing we don't already have.

I'm guessing Hasbro knew what the 13th figure would be, and rightly backed out of the Con after that :)

Whatever. Nothing in the FSS really appealed to me anyway, not 1.0, 2.0, and doubtful for 3.0.

If they did a whole FSS on "modern" revisions, or hell, even "WWII" or "Vietnam" revisions of classic ARAH figures I'd be down. But stop with this shit already!

I think FSS3 will need to have at least Frostbite and 6 STRONG companions for me to give a fuck at this point. FSS2 was almost worse than 1, and I absolutely hated some of the figures in that assortment. With the damage problems and this 13th crock of shit, they're not doing themselves any favors in getting folks excited.

Part of me just wishes they'd stop, because they clearly can't handle this and a Con in the same year.

I think modern revisions are off the table because Hasbro wants to reserve those.

I'd be down for a post WW2 GI Joe motorcycle club riding around the US of A, doling out Joe Justice.

The problem is it's basically one guy making a lot of the decisions and he clearly isn't very talented at making those decisions.

I feel that way about every figure. No GI Joe should ever cost over $20 under any circumstance.

100% totally agreed...

:lmao:

You are clearly underestimating the "true fans" willingness to accept abuse and any sh!tty figures the club/Hasbro throws at them...

What I meant was, a reduction by 30-50%.

I don't think they're going to do it anyways as they're clearly running out of ideas. All of the characters people want that are left haven't been made since they depend on existing figure molds to design these things. I mean, do you really think you can come close to getting an accurate Frostbite? I know we've made him, but without some cutting, sculpting and gluing.

BTW. It seems like a lot of Stankers are pissed about it.

Oh I'm sure they're p!ssed (MR tipped me off ;))...but they were p!ssed about Iceberg, and stolen CC info, and I'm sure many other things...hasn't stopped them from taking it up the a$$ year after year though...

They have tons of new tooling that they could use to redo/update a lot of the original 25th figures...a lot of them were pretty sh!tty...they also have enough tooling to do very modern interpretations...more MUT type designs...but they are too chicken sh!t for that...and honestly, I'd be one who would love those type of designs, but I'm not paying Club prices for them...

I think there will be some drop-off. I think a near-perfect Frostbite and Iceberg could've been made from 90% existing parts, so long as they included the same treatment as they did on Big Boa and Cross Country. Meaning adding webgear and a new head. The collars and heads on both of those guys is all that they need to fabricate.

And I agree with you on whoever is making the decisions on character selection isn't smart. They should be geared to creating hype for 4-5 years, and nothing beyond that. The "trickle" rate that they're throwing in decent characters is estimating that they're going to be having an FSS for the next 20 years, which is downright retarded.

If they're going to do strict repaints, then at least finish existing fucking teams, or do "classic" v1 decos of the Night Force guys. Want to go out and do "international" figures every once in awhile? Sure, by all means, add one here or there, even if it's a repaint. I don't mind repaints one bit, it's lazy or "fuck you, stupid!" ones like "Red Pads Grand Slam" that annoy me because these are premium-rate figures. There's a HUGE selection of figures they could make as repaints or FrankenJoes (using 100% existing parts), and I'd be okay with it, so long as it made up less than 50% of the FSS. Or hell, even 60%, so long as the other 40% at least had new heads and some sort of webgear or accessory that really shined. There might not be many more "Cover Girls" or "Big Boas" or "Keel Hauls" to really be the "BIG DRAW" figure, so throw in one or 2 more solid 3rd or 4th tier guys and put a little effort into it, and it'd be a halfway decent FSS. At least worth getting each time.

Their figure selection for FSS1-2 is on par with what it should've been in like, year 6 or 7. And they need to not listen to folks who want bullshit like "Listen N Fun" Tripwire, Red Pads Grand Slam or Bombardier. I can't believe people are claiming to be "clamoring" for those eyesores or lazy pieces of shit figures.

The guy making the decisions picked HIMSELF to be in FSS 1! :whatever:

Yeah I also can't believe the people who claim red pads Grand Slam was asked for by "lots" of collectors.
I can forgive Bombardier since he is a new character even though I never wanted one. It is the repaints of existing figures of characters that annoy me. I could redesignate tan Grunt, TF Shipwreck & TF Airtight as foreign characters. Those are the ones that should be Con set exclusives.
Army builders seem to be better suited in Con sets because they usually offer multiples in the set.

What I don't get is the HissTankers just gobbling up this 13th figure. "FINALLY! We get to complete the O13! We've been missing Grand Slam all these years!"

He may not be the exact replication of the original '82 vintage figure (and this one isn't either, if everyone's being an anal-retentive asshole about it, as he'd technically use the Zap head like Grunt did) but we've gotten THREE FUCKING GRAND SLAMS since 2008 that filled that shitty gap. HE'S A REPAINT OF FLASH, GODDAMMIT! Take a Flash, and paint his brown parts black, or take one of the 3 Grand Slams and paint his fucking pads red. It's not that difficult. Grand Slam is the absolute most boring of the O13 to begin with, why we've gotten FOUR of him so far blows my mind. The only reason I got a Grand Slam was because he had the silver pads and looked slightly DIFFERENT from Flash.

Another thing I don't get, is HTers getting all excited for FSS3 sight unseen. "I'M ALREADY IN FOR FSS 3.0!" WHY!? It's not even been shown yet! Why would the FSS 2.0 showing impress anyone to commit to the third installment without even knowing the lineup? Gar.

I understand why the Club chose Red Pads Grand Slam and I'm not entirely disappointed by it. They saw a way to save money and issue an OG13 figure since they already had the factory making his foreign cousin. Since my enjoyment of GI Joe are characters from 1982 - 1986, then RP GS is in my collecting wheelhouse, more so than Blackout last year.

I signed up for the FSS based on the 12 figures shown. I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over a figure I never saw mentioned, advertised, or hinted at. All the butt hurt going on at HT is over it not being Munitia or Bombstrike.

Having said that, I think the 2 things that hurt RP GS is the head and the accessories. The Club should have used the Tan Grunt / AOCI Zap head to keep with the original. Now he looks like a Flash or Bombadier variant.

And why include a missile launcher? RP GS operated the HAL, a fucking laser canon! Even the shitty ROC Sgt Stone spring loaded shooter repainted would have been a more inspired choice.

I like Grand Slam, I was excited for an OG, not some character I've never heard of.

Yeah, it would have.

But instead we got a lame repaint of a 25th figure. You " but he has red pads!" cats can go jump in a lake.

The Club isn't into making modernized, POC style GI Joe figures. That's not their focus. They are interested in recreating, with the parts available, an updated version of the classic figures. The emphasis is to get them as accurate to the original as possible.

It's Hasbro that should be making that Flash. I think he'd sell quite well.

Yea, the club would never do modern figures. I think they could have picked a better figure for the "extra" you get though.

They've done modern updates on several, though. That Shockwave clone guy from FSS2 didn't look like his 2000's build (of course they cheated by using a Shocktrooper body, but still) and that awesome Wetsuit from the SMB2 set was great. (Despite the limited Duke arms.) They're few and far between, but it's possible. That Grand Slam was lazy as fuck, O13 "essential" or not.

The only reason I'm keeping one is because it's for my carded set, and at least it IS an O13 figure, but it's nothing I ever wanted or intend to open. If FSS3 sucks and I don't opt-in for a whole set, though, I may sell off the FSS1 and FSS2 carded set I've kept because at that point, I won't have them all, so why bother?
