Anyone made this thing work for them yet? It needs some serious overhauling, like removing the pistol grip/trigger, new paint (of course) and more.

Would love some ideas, tips or advice on how best to tackle it.

It's the electronic Elite Force A10 Warthog that sold at Target last year (probably still does). A10 is one of my favorite Post-WWII planes and I really want to make this cool.

Thanks.

I wish you good luck in stretching it into a proportional vehicle. I was really disappointed with BBI on this after their previous offerings.

This thing is a rehash of one they did 10 years ago. The cockpit is actually pretty close to proper size, but the rest is a Joescale abortion.

As KT has stated the only thing that is kinda close is the cockpit .

The dementions for a full 1/18th scale A-10 are :

Wing span------------ 38 "
Wing cord-------------7
Length--------------35"
width stabilizer------13"
stabilizer cord. -------4"
height of rudders ---6.25 "
engine nacells --------7-1/2 " x3 " as big as a coke can but about 2 inches longer.

So there is a lot to do to bring this up to scale .

But it can be done with LOTS and LOTS of styrene !!!

I'm less concerned about scale being perfect, and more worried about making the existing frame look as cool as possible. For example, that stupid trigger thing needs to go, etc. I guess I'll just start hitting it and see where it goes.

Thanks, guys. And Picklehaube, it's totally impressive that you have those dimensions!

Someday Pickel is gonna make the A-10 we all wish we could afford to buy. He's obviously done his homework on it.

Well it ell you If or one was pretty excited when Merit came on line with their forum .

My hopes were high about them building a A-10.

But my hopes were dashed when they said " buy more stuff that we offer then maybe we will build the A-10 " .

So once again we wait.

We'd have one if 21st would have just sacked up. Then they sent the prototype to that douchebag up in Detroit and the rest, as they say, is history.

What's crazy is that something as popular and desired as a 'Hog could well have revived interest in 1:18, and quite possibly have given 21st a bit more longevity. Instead they offered real clunkers like F-104s and MiG 17s (in various colors... derp...). :grumpy:

Honestly though, I would rather have gotten a real one from BBI, complete with pilot.

I customized this A-10 into a Cobra Rattler. The handle and such are easy to remove. There are screws underneath the plane, and you can remove the trigger/handle from mechanism. The only difficulty I had was removing pieces behind the cockpit to make room for the rear gunner pod. I used a pill bottle to make the gun pod.
