I think we can all agree that everything about RoC sucked.

The movie yes. But there were some ok figures, like those Desert Ambush Dukes. Man I should have bought like, ten of those.

These figures worry me for the third film...for the first film, the gross was split pretty much 50/50...for Retaliation, the international gross is almost 2/3rds of the gross!...I wouldn't be surprised to see them pandering to the international movie goers much like they did for the first film...:(

G.I. Joe: Retaliation hasn't received the most positive reviews (it has a mere 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but the 3D sequel has been a success at the box office. As of this weekend, the film has grossed an estimated $322.9M worldwide. This is higher than the $302.5M intake of 2009's The Rise Of Cobra. While the first film has a $150M+ domestic gross and $152.3M overseas, Retaliation has currently grossed $111.2M+ domestically and $211.7M internationally. Especially as the sequel has a lower budget thanRise Of Cobra (which had a $175M budget, compared to Retaliation's $130M), this is great news for Paramount Pictures. A third installment is already in the works, and fingers crossed that it won't take another four years for it to be released.

I hope they don't go international again, and I don't think they will.. since this one was specifically very American and did better.

If they keep people around who know the mythos I could see them bringing in the October Guard or other international people perhaps.

Yeah, it's G.I Joe, IT IS AMERICAN through and through.

I do like the international teams, Action Force, all the South American stuff, and they could be brought in as being attached to G.I Joe, or on lone for certain operations/attached to units, as many allied countries do with cross training.

Plus I like Cobra being American in origin and having it's grubby claws all over the world. Like a home grown version of Spectre from James Bond (which like Hydra, they draw inspiration from).

It's better when it sticks to it's roots and not try to pretend or pass itself off as something else. Like the 1st film, which was a big whoops.

I loved in the comics how clearly American the JOEs were but they were always spread out on missions around the globe piecing sh!t together...

I'd love to see them reach Cobra further out...get them connected to a web of terrorists the world over...

What all the films have been missing is sending multiple teams out at once to the 4 corners of the earth. That was SUCH a common theme in the cartoon (and comics? I'm only 1/3 of the way through reading the classic Hama run) but ROC only had a small team that worked together, and Retaliation had an even fucking smaller team, although they did at least break into "two" forces, sort of, I guess... By sending SE on that silly Storm Shadow chase.

What I wanna see is something like four to five 5-or-6-man teams that each has their own specific mission to undertake as part of a larger whole. It could easily fit into a 2-hour film if done right, and they don't need to get all in-depth on character development. Just don't make flat characters with the sole purpose of throwing them away.

Weren't the later waves with the better figures suppose to be on shelves right about now? Because I don't think I'll ever see them. When I got Professor X yesterday I saw that my local Wal-Mart still had the pegs crammed full with wave 1 and 2 stuff. Not a single one has sold since the movie came out. NOT-A-SINGLE-ONE. Looks like the movie marketing strategy is not working. All the marvel movie stuff is collecting dust as well, but at least they occasionally sell every once and a while. The Retaliation toy line is looking like it is going to be a worse disaster than the Rise of Cobra line! I can only imagine what it is going to look like in TJ Maxx and Mashal's for the next three Christmas seasons.

I could never be able to pump enough venomous sarcasm into the sentence "Gee,who would have ever thought that collectors and parents alike would not be willing to buy crappy figures at ten dollars each".

Later waves were pushed back till August(?) I think. I'm guessing for the DVD release. Plenty of time for the peg warmers to go. My walmart today had some of all the waves out so stuff is still shipping. They were almost empty last week. I saw 2 of the lame ass Firefly's from the latest wave. My youngest son bought 2 red ninjas with some of his B-Day money.

Ugh, that delay is lame! We should have had these things last year for crying out loud! God I hate Hasbro so much.

Ah, come on. Watching people grimace whilst reluctantly (or, in odd cases, enthusiastically) handing over money year after year is TONS of fun for the club.

I'll be preordering the new wave 3 case as soon as BBTS puts them up. I don't trust retail with jack shit at this point. From the wave after that I really only want Night Viper and Blind Master (despite the laughable "performance" in the movie).

I'll do one case, but fuck retail. I used to support it over the online stores, but that was when stores actually got product.

I still haven't seen a Lady Jaye or Colton yet, and I figured by now we'd see some of wave 2. Not a one, just a sea of Rockblocks and Snake Eyes, with a Firefly or Flint occasionally tossed in to confuse people as to why they aren't pictured on the card art like the wall of figures in the aisle.

None of the stores have restocked much from what I can tell.. not that I look much anymore.

The 3-packs are in abundant supply though. Should really pick those up.. maybe Target will clearance them..

The red Shock Trooper is surprisingly good, and loaded. Not sure what I'm going to do with that Firefly, he's pretty cool aside from the head. Not sure why people are making waves about Mouse and Airborne.

I stopped by TRU for S&G today, and they were having a sale! 2 figures for $15! There was one peg of Joes! Nothing but w1 Roadblock!

On a side note, I now have an hour to pack up some stuff and put it back in storage. Instead I'm sitting here, poking at the internet to see if it twitches. Go me!

Yeah the Shock Trooper has his uses, the Firefly isn't bad.. construction seems a little off on the one I have. Very bendy plastic.

I like Mouse and Airborne for bases for customs. Snake Eyes works too, though his gear is crap.

For $20 all of them are worth it I think, especially with $10 single figures.
