Fled, I'm with you. I never watched the cartoon or read the comic. The movie came out on dvd about the time I started collecting and getting into this, so for me the movie was at least entertaining. I understand where you purist are coming from though. The choice for Duke alone would have been a head scratcher.

I don't have the comic/cartoon continuity hang ups, but even then RoC was a mediocre action film.

I wouldn't expect Gunga Din but it sure as hell should have been better than an episode of The Golden Girls.

Bruce Willis in talks to join the cast of Paramount’s G. I. Joe 2 [Retaliation], with the veteran action actor marked to play the "Original Joe".

Willis, if a deal comes together, would play General Joe Colton, the man who in 1980s comic books starts the G. I. Joe Strike Team, called the Ultimate Freedom Fighting Force, and got the handle G. I. Joe.

i like Dennis Quaid...having said that, he sucked so much a$$ in RoC, its not even funny...they almost ALL did...

though it sucks that some of the characters wont be returning, i think its better that they arent just sliding a new acter into the original roles...that'd just be dumb...and since the Joe roster is so vast, its cool that new characters will get to be seen...

REALLY wish Duke (Taintum) wasn't returning...knowing the directors love for gangsta talking douches in dance movies, its almost guarunteed that Channing will still have his thugish accent and attitude even though he's supposed to be a respectible military officer...uggg

I don't think I even acknowledge post "Almost boned Winona Rider on film in the '80s" Quaid.

Ray Stevenson, Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis as Joe figures. Awesome.

so, does anybody think there is any possibility that the movie toys will have any good army builders? I should just assume you'll all be rather pessimistic about that subject, but I'm curious.

I hope so. In fact I hope the movie toys are awesome. I hated the roc toys. Of course it didn't help that I hated the movie so much that I banned everything that had to do with roc lol

I figure we'll get half a dozen usable figures like with RoC, but if Cobra is anything like the Koopa Vipers that faction will be a near total washout all over again.
