That was the best thing to happen in the last couple of years. It should have been wave 3 and 4 of Retaliation, but we know how that went. I really wish they could get them in at Family Dollar. Their toy sections seem to be infinitely more consistent in what lines are stocked..
I was thinking that, but wasn't 100% sure and didn't want to get verbally b!tch slapped by fogg if I was wrong...
I just wish the black trooper was as easy to find as the others. Haven't seen any in a long time.

Apparently the DG waves were a "mistake". My theory is it was a mistake overlooked by the bean counters but now that they caught said mistake they won't make any more.
My only question here is, are anybody's hopes up that we will actually see something exciting? Is anyone actually thinking we're gonna get blown away? That Hasbro is going to dig into that concept vault? Improve the figures? Or actually fix their distribution errors?
I'd love to see almost all of the vault come to life. All of those Trooper variants, Vipers, Joes that actually look worthwhile.

I did have some hope Matt. At least before the figures were starting to show. After the 3rd or 4th reveal, I have just said fuck it. Right now, I don't give a flying fuck about this set and I'm already looking forward to next years set lol.

Honestly, change the colors and the head and it's not "that bad". I think this body works better for him than it does Burnout. I would have just given him different legs and maybe Shadow Stalker's lower arms with different hands.
Also, I believe this figure was in the concept stage but never materialized in the vault they showed to the public. The people that are designing some of the new parts know what else is in the vault.
I'd be fine with DG or FD just as long as somebody was continuing to carry the "basic" figures. When they first hit DG the manager at my local was really good about ordering them for me and back when FD had the 25th figs same thing. God how I miss finding these things in the wild.
NV in DG wave 2 greens and grays would be awesome just give him his helmet webgear, and rifle. I don't need a gazillion pieces that don't really fit with the character.
If they did a wave of troop builders using figures like the wave 3 Duke for DG and FD, they would find their market. Just make him olive drab or tan with a masked face and they wouldn't be able to keep him on the peg.

So you're saying all those things aren't the same then? And what exactly is the point of this? I said earlier that there was a similar figure in the concept case. Both figures are wearing the same type and color of clothing. I never claimed they were exactly the same, nor was a I trying to compare the two. It was asked what figure this was supposed to be based off, and I recalled a similar figure from the case.
I think since they're working with guys who had come up with most of the designs in that case, they're mistaking a figure being in the concept stages for a figure they physically showed us at Toy Fair. I don't think they're the same. You could easily say a 25th cobra trooper is the same as a 30th cobra trooper if you just break it down by colors.
I don't think that Shipwreck was the same as Outback either. I just remembered some of the Shipwreck details when Outback's inspiration was first brought up.
I'm usually not surprised about the level of fanboy circle-jerkery that goes on over there, but I'm honestly surprised at how many of them saw Outback and said the same thing we've been saying, ie. "What the Fuck, Club?!"

It simply amused me that you wouldn't let it go that the figures share not one part, but only look remotely similar in a general sense and say, "Ah nevermind, I was mistaken."
Of course they're fucking similar, they're dressed in remotely army-colored colors because they're military figures, both have beards and are wearing a cap. One happens to share a single knee pad with the other, etc. You actually forgot to mention that they both have words on their shirts!
