Grimlock being a Mustang was lame. Wheeljack would've been fine with me if his colors were right (red/green, not blue). For many of them, it was the deco that bugged me. The only reason I disliked Prowl was because he was supposed to share a mold with the other 2, and his alt mode would've been better for Red Alert, and vice versa.

Sure, there could've been better vehicles for the others, but with all the headaches of licensing, I'm surprised they got as good as they did. I wish that Jazz could have been a Porsche like the original proto, and that we could've gotten that sweet New Beetle Bumblebee. Especially considering that they went back on their "no war toys of our vehicles" with Transformers 2 having an Audi in it. Hypocritical fuckers.

The only ones I don't mind the deco changes are Mirage and Smokescreen. For some reason, I dug both of their new alt modes. Hpound, Mirage, Jazz, and Smokescreen are my favorites. Silverstreak's not half bad, either, as are many others. Towards the end, the repaints got lame, as did character selection, too.

It's still my favorite line after MP, though. By a long shot.

Yeah, Hound and Mirage are the two that bug me the least. But the multitude of Mustangs, Subarus, Mazdas, etc just don't work for me. It feels like they barely tried. I'd rather they have done non-licensed fictional cars that resemble the originals, much like the current CHUGs. But the part the bothers me just as much as the car choices is the big chunky clunkiness of the bot modes. They have absolutely none of the sex-appeal of a MP figure. Those are sleek, iconic, and thoughtfully engineered. BTs are none of those things. Of course, BTs didn't carry a MP price tag either. They are apples and oranges in my book. I wouldn't feel right displaying BTs with my MPs. But that's just me.

Yeah, chimungmung has the best price on Not-Megs too, five bucks cheaper on the figure and another five cheaper on the shipping.

The igear thundercracker is worth it, period. Starscream was worth it to me since I had skipped the WM release and only have Greenscream. While I don't have him yet, I'd wager Skywarp is only worth it if you don't have any other version or want the tail-fin/leg fix. Being mostly black, they can't make him much more toon accurate than he already was... except maybe softening the purple trim a bit.

If I had zero, I'd get the new Takara SS, get the TC from that iGear, and get the Wal-Mart Skywarp. Just so all 3 were slightly different in build.

Maybe, but you're ignoring the litany of complaints about the build quality of the WM SW. I haven't opened mine, but I do recall quite a bit of moaning when it came out... and sat around. Plus, it would be alone in having the gimpy dangling tail-fin kibble. If I had none, I'd buy all three from igear and call it a day.

I got mine when it was first released at full price, but I later found it on clearance for $17 or something. Had I wanted to bother with it, I would've gotten the Skywarp and then returned the one I'd gotten months earlier, but I said fuck it. It wasn't worth the hassle, although now that I look back, it would have considering that it's just sat in the box.

I have the Takara one, but besides the different face, I prefer the deco of the WM version since I like the tampo-ed on artwork as opposed to silly stickers on the Japanese releases.

The hip kibble I pop off and attach to the legs, so displayed it doesn't bother me so much. I guess if you were going to go about it, it'd be cheaper now to just get the iGear one, considering it's fixed.

I'm wondering how long it will take to get the US redeco of that new-mold Starscream (or better yet, a Thundercracker in US cartoon colors?).

While they do like to release that mold over and over, WM has had two exclusives already. SS was a hit because he's the most popular seeker, and his only other release at the time was greenscream (plus, how many nimrods bought a bunch and made their own TC and SW repaints... as if HasTak wasn't going to release them).

On the other hand, I'm going to wager SW was a bust given how damn many were on clearance. I'm not sure they'd do a third seeker exclusive after that. TRU seems to get the better US MP's, so I would expect them to get a trailer-less MP-10 release, not TC. Target maybe? The only MP they ever carried was the original 20th Prime. I'm just not sure that TC is coming, especially after igear beat them to it. Is there really demand left?... However, they're putting out SS again, so who the hell knows.

He was my favorite Autobot combiner. Not only did he have cool bots that made the gestalt, but he was basically the only combiner that was actually smart. Most combiners, no matter what side, only operated in monosyllabic grunts or at best, two-word sentences. Computron talked like a 60's robot, but he could at least think. Superion was ok, and Defensor was hella-lame. But Computron kicked all kinds of ass! Go TFC! I would give them my money today...

I dont remember Computron at all...but he's a combiner, and I'm a sucker for combiners...if he's cool enough, I might get him...hoping he's more close in size to Has/FP Brute than Herc though for scale purposes....

Technobots are an '86 combiner team that only showed up after the animated movie. But the various characters that make up Computron are pretty cool. A couple of jets, a futuristic car, a futuristic motorcycle, and tank/drilling machine. By far the coolest visual of any autobot combiner team.

Computron was in season 3, which was godawful. The only combiners I liked were the Constructicons, Aerialbots, Stunticons and Combaticons. I never liked the others, because by that time, the gimmick had worn itself thin. I also thought Computron was dumb because he had no theme. At least the Protectobots were emergency vehicles. It's funny that it's your favorite.

I don't think I ever saw past season 2, so everything after that has always been new to me until lately when I bought the 86 movie and s3 set...kinda wished I woulda stopped at the movie...

After the first 10-15 minutes of both TF and Joe movies, is when my childhood self stopped respecting the stories. At least GIJoe had some decent characters post-movie, but I hated nearly all the post-movie TFs. In fact, of the movie figures I only ever liked Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Arcee and Springer. I hated Kup and all the rest, especially Wheelie, Blurr and the Junkions. I also don't count Rodimus, really. Shit went downhill fast.

I did like in one episode they threw old man future Flint in there...yeah, he wasn't real, but it was still cool...

But watching s3 just makes me miss all the characters I actually like...I keep watching hoping for a glimps of a cameo...best I've gotten so far is zombie/ghost Prime

Prime's return was always the highlight of that season for me, but it's even weak.

The entire season didn't feel like the same Transformers to me. Just the whole mix of crazy aliens and planets that they encounter, to the lame new annoying Transformers, to the Quintessons and all the Cybertronian/futuristic alt modes (which never made sense to me... how are they disguising themselves as some weird-shaped vehicle... thing?).

There were a few cool new TFs like Metroplex and Trypticon, but I cut off my canon at the point that Prime and all the other good TFs bite it in TF:TM. I never liked Galvatron or Rodimus. They were lame replacements, at the expense of Megs and Optimus.

What was Galvatron? He turns into some sort of nasal-spray-butt-plug thing. And then they turned Bumblebee into Goldbug. Simply awful.

I'll admit that it's got a completely different feel, and watching the third season on the hub recently, there are a load of crappy episodes. BUT, I really like Magnus, Hotrod, Springer and Arcee. They are infinitely better characters than the '85 crop. I HATED Warpath, Powerglide, Seaspray, Grapple and Hoist. I resented them for displacing my beloved '84 characters, so when they in turn were displaced by the '86 crowd, I was somewhat glad.

As for combiners, I did like the aerialbots, but I thought defensor was a bad knockoff (but like eddie said, he's "cool" like lifeline, and I didn't like him either!). The decepticon combiners were very cool, and I do love stunticons and combaticons. The later decepticon combiners... yeah I agree they are uninspired. But for some reason I really liked Computron. He was futuristic and smart.

Sideswipe?! Didn't see that one coming. Guess that means we'll be getting cars. They've done 3 new Autobot molds (Grimlock, Rodimus and MP-10 Prime) since Megatron, and the Seekers don't count. It's about time for either a resized Megatron or all-new Soundwave.

Can't say I'm super disappointed, but I wanted them to stick to leaders, not the cars yet... Any new mold is a good thing, though. And hopefully since they're doing Sideswipe, that means we'll at least get a repaint as Sunstreaker. I foresee Ratchet/Ironhide and the Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen triplets potentially coming if Sideswipe/various-repaints is successful. Although, they need to up production to more than once every 1-2 years if they're going to do this...

I cannot begin to describe how happy this makes me. I'm dying for them to make some '84 autobots in the MP scale, and Sideswipe is my absolute favorite character. You can't see me, but I'm doing the happy dance (not to be mistaken with the "I gotta pee" dance).

I'm not sure we'd actually get a Sunstreaker repaint. Given how G1 accurate the MP figures are, Streaker had a completely different look, completely different transformation. More than likely, there will be a Red Alert and/or Breakdown repaint. And they'll probably be takara-only and cost three prices.

Still, SIDESWIPE!!!! He'd better come with a kick-ass jetpack too...

I'm cool with getting a Red Alert repaint. I never got the Binaltech Red Alert, and I'd happily get Sideswipe since that was one of the BT/Alts that I really didn't like. Sunstreaker was decent, for some reason. His giant head seemed to balance better than Sideswipe's giant head.

It's just timing. I still think there are more important figures that they should do by now, especially a new Decepticon mold. We've gotten 2 different Optimus molds, a Rodimus and Grimlock, and only 2 Decepticon molds. And the BT/Alt line was EXTREMELY Autobot-heavy, so I was hoping we'd see either Soundwave or Shockwave first.

Hell, even Galvatron would make sense in the Autobot/Decepticon balance, although I don't want Galvatron at all.
