Lol...good point my friend...though I do tend to over analyze something that costs $500-$600 smackers...justified if you ask me...

Yeah, I never gave two shits about Predaking. The only combiners to me are the Aerialbots, Constructicons, Stunticons and Combaticons. The rest are cool to look at but nothing I'd ever want.

Yeah, by the looks of that sword it is... but the other one is supposed to be more in-scale with Giant. I can see benefits of both, but I agree, I'm going to need him to be larger than Unanos and Herc to be proper G1 bot scale. I assume you'd want him smaller because rhinos and lions are smaller than F-15's...

All these 3rd party combiners, along with the new rounds of Takara masterpiece figures... we're in a golden age of awesome transformers (no thanks to hasbro). It's incredible while kicking my wallet in the nads.

"Thank you sir, may I have another!"

Lol, you know me so well :D

The fact that they are made up of lions and rhinos and whatever other animals is the reason they never interested me...same goes for seacons and monstercons and any other thing that's typically organic and an awful disguise for a robot...(no idea why I like the insecticons)

And I'm with you Matt on your combiner selection...though I wouldn't be opposed to the Protectobots/Defensor (assuming the alt mode scale decrepencies were corrected) and possibly the Technobots if they turned into an extra awesome Computron...

Also, up until a year ago I had never heard or known of the train combiner (can't even recall his name)...but I've always been a sucker for trains (had a sweet 8x16 N scale model railroad layout when I younger until our house burnt down) and probably wouldn't pass up one if released...

I agree that most of the TFs that turn into animals bug the shit out of me. I kinda accept and ignore the issues with Dinobots and Insecticons, and Predaking kinda gets the same pass I guess. No question though, all the vehicle based combiners are much cooler. I assume that TFC won't stop with aerialbots and will go on with the already-teased computron parts or maybe stunticons or combaticons.

But I agree, monstercons, seacons, terrorcons, weird pretenders, and beast wars.... all that shit makes no sense for a robot trying to be in disguise. Other than at an art museum, who would be fooled by a two-headed metallic sea monster?

While I've never been a huge fan of the later G1 years or Sixshot in particular, this is one incredible looking bot. Each mode looks pretty distinct, and the bot looks fantastic and well-articulated. Plus, it's 9.5" tall to the top of the head, so it'll fit with MP scale or even be a larger bot in iGear scale. Pretty cool indeed.

Heck, I bought a couple extra. If it goes through, that's a great base for a couple of MP-sized customs. And a great MP figure for half the price of a 3P CHUG... I love Uranos, but I'll find a way to do both for that kind of deal.

Truthfully, I'm still holding my breath that they actually go through with it. It's just too good to be true.

Well, I don't actually "have" them, but my BBTS PoL has Uranos Phantom & Eagle, MP Red Alert, and FP X-1 (aka Not Chromedome). I'm just waiting on some more stuff to ship them all at once.

Over the holidays in south Texas, I did find 11 of the 12 new blind bag Kreo Micro Changers. I'm only missing Hook, so that's pretty cool.

I also picked up this kit to fill out my Herc...

I just feel like third party-third party add-ons for that Herc have gotten out of hand. I guess the more the merrier, but they've really gone overboard with it.

I do plan on getting the G1 toon head, though. Will probably add it before I ship my next POL.

Yeah, I'm the same way. The 3P figures are expensive enough anyway. I choke paying $100 for a CHUG scale figure, and having to buy a bunch of add-on kits on top of the overpriced figures kinda chaps me. It should have the "right" look straight up, not requiring even more 4th-party parts. I'll simply live with however it comes.

What I'm excited to see is what the 3rd party guys come up with for extra Casseticons for Soundwave once they can reverse-engineer the sizing and whatnot from the official molds. I fully expect a Ratbat with an eventual Soundblaster black repaint, but I bet one of the 3P guys will take care of that one before Takara can. I'll be honest, I'll buy as many minions as they release so long as they all go together aesthetically. I had Beastbox as a kid and always liked that guy, for some reason.

It says v3 only. I don't know what that means. Didn't you buy these one at a time when they first came out, i.e. v1 figures?

Does this mean by supporting this figure from the start that I have gimpy versions with problems? (I know Heavy Labor has hip issues that can be fixed if you never transform him pre-fix. Are there others?)

The v3 actually refers to the 3rd version of the kit and has nothing to do with Hercs releases...

And the fixed Herc members include Exgraver, who's excavator arm was revised as the base was cracking from too much tension, and lubed hips on HL...that was the only change made to him...so if you want to "fix" yours, open the crotch and put some RC car gear lube (safe for plastic) on the gears...those were the only wide spread issues IIRC...

But you bring up another good reason why I'm waiting for Uranos to be completely released...QC problems...so far all seems well, but we'll see...i'm not as big a Superion fan as I am a Devastator fan, so there's no need for me to beta test this time around...

Yeah, if Not-Superion (I refuse to call him Uranos because it's a bad name, not because it's the third party designation) turns out cool, I'll buy the full set. That will hopefully settle the QC issues I got stuck with on the initial releases. Plus now we've seen their production numbers and distribution, and I jumped on each release early because I was afraid they'd sell out.

Devastator was a must-have. Superion is a nice-to-have. Also, I was more flush with cash and shelf space at the time. Now, I'm tending to be more picky with my TFs and Joes alike.

Well, Superion is one of my favorites (I tend to like good guys more than bad guys), so I'll be getting these as they come out too. And I'll probably be sad when they release a cheaper giftset with all the fixes and extra accessories. Yet here I am buying them anyway. I guess I'm secretly afraid that BigH will drop the hammer on these guys one of these days and the re-releases might never show.

Those do look spectacular.

I'm a little miffed that they didn't use the 'toon nomenclature for frenzy and rumble since most of the MP nods and extras are to the animation, not necessarily the G1 toys.

And I have this love/hate with Buzzsaw. Since he came with Soundwave originally, he was the only cassette I had for a long time, and he was pretty much the only one that never got any screen time on the animation. He was cool, but I resented him for not being Laserbeak.

Well, the reason Rumble is red is because it is cartoon-accurate to Japan, which is the main market for these. The US cartoon was the only one where Rumble was blue. If they'd packaged the blue bot with Ravage, I may have skipped the Buzzsaw/red bot set. They knew what they were doing with the packaging sets, though. Most people will buy both sets to get the blue figure, no matter his name, since he got the most screen time.

I don't give a shit about Buzzsaw. What a half-ass repaint with zero character development in the cartoons. I don't even like his deco! I'd rather have gotten just 4 cassettes altogether than a 5th one that's a repainted Laserbeak. :(

yeah, but he came with soundwave originally, so that makes him a little special, right? He did appear in the toon once or twice... just not nearly as often as laserbeak.

ok, I didn't know about the japanese version. So the guy that pounded the ground all the time in the japanese version was Frenzy? That makes no sense. That's not how his power even works. It drives me nuts when they give the toy red guy pile-drivers... but I agree about the packaging choice. We've talked about that before, very intentional... and probably smart on their part.
