I thought about it during the restoration, but I just couldn't paint it orange. And my roommate (at the time) and best friend is african american, so it would have been a major issue to put the stars and bars on it. I personally have a different, far more innocuous view of such southern heritage things, but my buddy was/is far more important than a paint scheme.
But, I did get the correct rims (that took a lot of searching) and put a dixie horn in it. It had a 440 4-barrel and flowmasters. It looked mean and sounded meaner. I'm thoroughly convinced I could have jumped a creek bed in that mother

Put enough weight in the trunk and the car might actually survive the jump

Oh, I totally agree; I'm all about southern heritage and the innocence of the GL flag. But when your best friend is sensitive to it, carrying that particular torch just isn't worth the trouble.
I seriously think that's why we won't get a Cross Country with one. Which sucks, because that's totally within character for him.
Yeah, but on the new 1:18th diecast, they cover it up with an orange rectangle in the window box...
So wait, they covered it up as not to offend?...not to offend the people that wouldn't buy it anyway?...or to deceive and later offend and return?...either way, that seems like a sale that was never gonna happen...

Oh, maybe it was for protection of the paint/decal. I naturally assumed it was not to offend passers-by with the evil stars and bars being sold to children. It's not like they covered any other part of the car or other cars they sell in the same line. I think it's strictly added insurance to make sure they stay off the news.
My luck they'll do a shitty v.1 homage in the FSS.
Not that the v.2 is any less dated, but it's better than the first one. A character definitely in need of a redesign. Just keep the kepi so there's no mistaking who it's supposed to be.

I never know where to buy Dr Wu stuff. BBTS doesn't carry most of it. The only time I've successfully gotten anything from them was when I got it from you! Maybe Wu will send you some.... If not, you might have to invent something else for them to copy so we can get some more comp pieces!

While you might not be a fan, BBTS has trained me to abhor paying shipping for individual items... even igear ships for free. I'm also an Amazon prime guy, so I HATE paying for shipping on other sites. It seems like throwing money in a hole, but I suppose if they are the only ones to carry the Wu-goods I might not have a choice.
Meh. I want someone to make a Ratbat that won't make me buy a goddamn black Soundwave repaint that he's guaranteed to come with.
Or a faceplace that's un-fucked up. Or a set of two dozen replacement index fingers, as I'm sure to lose one of those bastards after a few years.

Just got an email from Captured Prey saying that Quakewave's second shipment should be arriving soon, and that makes it roughly by the time I get back from Hawaii in a week and a half. Stoked!
Also, sounds like from chatter that BBTS should be getting Buzzsaw/Frenzy(Rumble) in before too long, too, hopefully.

The little Energon-pour is the most badass detail of the whole thing, and the entire thing is completely awesome to begin with, so it's hard to rate the most amazing part of it.

Yeah, that's pretty badass. Honestly, the bots are not what I'd call his best work. I've seen a lot of his work in the past that I thought was better, but the dio stuff is great. I have plans for similar computer setups with backlit screens and such. He's clearly got a lot of time and talent, as virtually everything he comes up with is killer. But you're right, that energon pour is the icing on the cake.

The pics I've seen of the car modes make me want to buy an antique datsun and paint it silver and black...
You know, I only want MP toys made of G1 Sunbow characters, but as far as films go, I wish we could've gotten designs that looked like this:
It's techy enough that it looks "film" level, and helps to give more organic (and armor-plated) shape to the otherwise boxy G1 designs, but it's not as much of a jumbled mess as the stupid film designs. I hadn't really paid attention to the designs yet (I don't love all of them, but Prime at least seems well done) but I thought it was a cool hybrid of the two.

Yeah the IDW stuff is quite nice most times...I like that you can at least see colored car parts on them...the Bay sh!t has most of the car panels folded away making them all look mostly identical...
Bayformer designs are an abomionation.
IDW does blend modern design with G1 aesthetics very nicely. They're mostly "classics" toy inspired, but they do a nice job. It's a shame that all the movie figs look like gray insect jumbled messes of parts, like at their core is just a powerful magnet, and the bot is formed by moving the magnet through a junkyard.

The film, expected to film this spring in metro Detroit, opens soon after the end of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, where a great battle left a city torn – but with the world once again saved.
“It speaks volumes about all Michigan has to offer that Transformers is returning once again to our state,†said Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office. “This project will shine another bright spotlight on Michigan and provide tremendous opportunities for our cast, crew and support services.
Transformers 4 was awarded an incentive of $20 million on $81,933,992 of projected in-state expenditures. The project is expected to hire 368 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of 339 jobs.
As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.

I don't know my G1 toys very well, but did the originals come with the launchers?...they certainly look good with them...
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pissed that an MP figure wouldn't come with appropriate G1 armament, but those shoulder launchers look like shit. Dr Wu can do much better. The G1 versions weren't nearly as bulky. The missiles were much longer and skinnier.
I hope that whatever 3P fills that void in the accessory market does a better job than Amazon.jp
