It's the common name for the material Lego occasionally used to make ship's sails for some of their kits. Pretty uncommon stuff.

You can find the sails on eBay but you'll pay a fair amount of money for them.

I've searched so many times, looking for the Lego canvas in a normal fabric form - no luck. I believe Lego has this stuff made special for them, or it's made in-house by themselves.

So yes, Lego ship sails is where you will find it.

In the past I would be screaming bloody murder at the thought of ruining Lego flags. Those were one of those items that were rare to have. But now that you can buy any piece under the sun straight from Lego it doesn't matter.

I hear Lego sail fabric is made of broadcloth -- which has a felted, velvet-like feel.

A also hear it is made form artist's canvas.

It is always worth going to local arts and crafts supply shops, to check-out their stocks.

Is this stuff you guys are talking about the same stuff that is used to make the capes and such on the figures?

And if it's as simple as popping into the local art supply store to get sheets of it, that would be mighty fine...

Artist's canvas like that is a textured paper. Don't think it's gonna work for webbing.

Like Obi has said here...I don't believe anyone has found it anywhere other than from LEGO...

Art canvas is NOT the same thing. I heard years ago, from an "inside source", that Lego has it special made just for them.

This

So far, I haven't come close to replicating it. It's definitely not artist canvas because I practically own stock in it. It's a tighter weave. When it's made, it's got to be woven with a binder that allows them to press it like a paper product.

I wouldn't use it for capes. Pieces that "flow" aren't going to work as well with micro canvas.

No, what I meant was, is the sail material you guys are using the same material the lego capes are made of?...I'm just wondering so I can get a feel for the material if that's the case since I have a lego superman...
