I figured you wouldn't like Rumble and Ravage because they don't transform into a cassette 1/16th of an inch wide. Where's the scale nazi now?!
I can't actually figure out what the extra bit is that goes with the piledrivers. Is it some sort of clip to put the piledrivers together, like "batteries", or is it the backpack that holds the weapons to their backs?
Lol...well, because I have nothing that they scale with, I'll not be picking up SW or the cassettes...but I'll love looking at your guys pics
I'll say it again, it would be awesome if they'd pick a scale and stick with it...
Meh, it's Soundwave. He's an antiquated piece of audio tech. I don't give a damn what scale he's in alt-mode-wise, so long as the bot scales with Prime and looks amazing!
Clever use of the feet as a stand. Gotta give that to them. While the Takara/iGear stands are nice for display, they're cumbersome and take up a lot of space.
Me too nacho...though I think I said before that I'll be waiting until they are fully revealed before going all in on this set...
I really hate the big obnoxious "AIR FORCE" on Eagles tail fins...
But I love how much bigger Blackbird is than the other two...very cool...also cool is how Eagle has two feet modes making him taller if desired...

Just got iGear's Ironhide for my birthday... The only downside is that I just got Ironhide, but not Ratchet.
I felt bad, because my girlfriend didn't realize they were sort of a set, so I was actually expecting Ratchet and didn't get him. I hope I didn't let on too much that I was slightly disappointed to not get both. Oh well, at least I now know that he's a pretty decent size, regardless of whether he's perfect or not. He's almost eye-to-eye and in the right scale with Alternator Jazz, which is what I was hoping for.
Technically, I wish he was about 15-20% bigger, but in bot mode, he could be worse. I was afraid he'd be smaller than Jazz, but at least he seems to be at least the same height and mass.

Saw that earlier today. Pretty freakin' awesome. If you can't get giddy over that, TF's toys are clearly not your thing. Or you grew up in the 90's, you poor Gen-Y kids.
Just got my shipment notification from BBTS! Ratchet is on his way to meet Ironhide finally, and so is Sideswipe!

The only one I have displayed is my Hercules...my insecticons have been disassembled for a while awaiting paint...the rest are scatered all over...
Why does Soundwave cost $90 more than Red Alert and Sideswipe?...they're all TakTom versions...is SW that much larger?...does one extra tape figure justify more than double the cost of one of the other two?...is it a cash grab based on popularity?
I haven't seen size comparisons (or maybe I have and forgot) but I imagine Soundwave to be almost in size to MP-10 or the Seekers. The cars are tiny little things.
Soundwave is MP-10 size. The cars look at MP-10's crotch. So with the size difference and the cassette, I'm not at all surprised soundwave costs a lot more.

Sucks that the MP figures are getting smaller, yet the prices are getting higher...seems only one of those things should be happening...not both at the same time...

I'm not keen about the prices getting higher, but MP-01 is WAY too big and heavy now, after having the others in a more manageable scale. Don't get me wrong, MP-01 started my love for MPs and it's still a great figure... Just... Too big. I just think they started out WAY too ambitious, and then oil/plastic costs skyrocketed. While it's nice to have a figure that massive and sturdy, think about it... It was nearly 10 years ago. At the rate of inflation, is it no wonder how pricy it would be now?
It appears that the cars alt modes are relatively in-scale with MP-10, so Eddie should be happy. They might be a bit taller than crotch-level, but not much. Sideswipe is essentially CHUG size.

Well, it's all how you define "masterpiece". If you define it simply on scale, then yeah, they probably are not worthy. If you define it on sculpt, G1/'toon accuracy, quality of design, articulation, accessories, etc... then you could argue that they are still spot-on.
I don't like 'swipe being so small, but according to the animation scale guide, he's just the right size for MP-10. And while being the same size as a CHUG, I'd easily take him over a pile of CHUG figures, which are really not so great. They are flimsy, kibbly, poorly sculpted, loose-limbed, and far from G1 accurate. MP still fills that need for "perfect" figures even if they aren't quite as large as I'd like.
I have about decided that I'm done with CHUG figures. All those cybertronian alt modes and shitty designs and repaints. None of that appeals to me. I was at TRU looking at the exclusive red repaint of Kup, aka Swerve. And I thought to myself, "My collection will not feel lacking without this. I just don't need it. I'm not sure I need any more non-MP TFs at all." I have more than my kids can ever play with, so at some point, collecting it seems more like a burden than a hobby.
But on the other hand, the 3rd party combiners are beyond cool. And some other 3p stuff as well. Just got Art-feather Bumblebee, and that thing is both awesome and MP scaled as well. He might even be a bit larger than he should be for MP scale, but since he's still noticeably smaller than 'swipe and Red, it won't feel out of place. Easily worth the jack.

I don't think I've ever picked up anything besides third party stuff and MPs...everything else looks like a kids toy to me (you know what I mean 
)...and Hasbros non MP offerings have seemed to get more lame as of late...that FOC Brute was just gawd awful...

I picked up ONE Universe figure: Hound with Ravage. And it was mostly for Ravage. Not bad figures, just not adequate enough if you ask me.
Now, I've liked a few others, but not enough to buy them. I actually really liked the Z-guys.
I'm thinking with Sideswipe and Red Alert, we'll at least get the Z-sibling Autobot cars (3x repaints easily, if not retooled/reshelled as Jazz). If we got Jazz, Bee and maybe one or two more (like Wheeljack/Sunstreaker, or Trailbreaker and his repaints), I'd be happy with a small but solid Autobot force. I'm still not counting out my Alternators, but I'd get rid of most of them if I got better replacements in MP format except for probably Hound, Tracks and Mirage, and the Stunticons I threw together from various others with extra heads.
The 3rd party guys and the MP figures are pretty damn great. Hell, if Ironhide and Ratchet were like 15-25% larger, they'd be absolutely perfect with a tweak here and there with some unnecessary kibble.
