I think that upcoming 3-pack retaliation cobra paratrooper that's deco'd in dark red, coupled with the heavy IG's vest and a DTC helmet will make a fine SAW trooper. Much better than this fuchsia viper.

Slap some black and gray camouflage on the Red Shocky too. Something to break up all that god awful red.
It's the cheapo BBI combat command. I think smalljoes might still have them on clearance.
I think just getting a cast of that helmet and doing head swaps with the 30th IG would look better.

I'm on the fence about buying the set so far, although like a tard I'll probably get the set because there are several I'd want (yes, at least half so far), which would be cheaper to just get the set... These last 2-3 Joes will clench it for me, but I'm likely going to wind up buying the (speculated, far from confirmed) Sneak Peek and Lightfoot 2-packs, and if it's something like the Heat-Vipers in the 3-pack, I'll get those as well...
I've never been to JoeCon and was originally talking about going with Eddie since it's close for him, but it sounds like he's backed out. But I'm not big on going by myself so if nobody else wants to go, I guess I'll just be doing the Homefront Heroes set again.

WVMojo and I talked (very briefly) about driving out for it, but that never really went anywhere.
I sure as hell won't be driving, so I'd have to book a flight, and obviously the hotel, but if registration opens soon, I'd prefer to get in before sets get sold out. If they do like last year and hold off on doing Homefront Heroes sets until after attending registration gets first dibs, I assume it'll be another "good luck with that" crapshoot. I lucked out last year getting both boxed and bagged sets, but I don't expect that luck again two years in a row...

Are you a club member? If so, order the Hometown Heroes package. That'll give you the whole set, and then you might be able to trade the figures you don't want for the ones you do.
Otherwise you're probably going to have to go on eBay and buy them or another site and try to get someone to hook you up either at or after the con.

Might be Homefront now that I think about it, rather than Hometown. But it's the set as available for people not going to the con. The con info PDF talks about it.
If your not going and don't have anyone to who is to hook you up, your pretty much stuck with trying to get the attendee exclusives off ebay.
as for the actual con set, your best option is what Fogger said, buy the set, keep the joes and trade/sell the others. Should cut your costs down considerably.
If you go that route I'd be interested in buy Crimson Asp off you, shes the only one I like. Probably because shes a new character and didnt have an existing reference for the club to eff up. Ya I know Im in the minority, but I like the Gaudier Joes. Seeing these green, yellow, orange bastards in my collection puts a smile on my face, plus I have a thing for one eyed red heads lol. helps that shes 4" and plastic too
