I think it works with the hood, if it didn't have the hood, it'd look too big, but the hood helps hide it.

Do you guys think this schleich head is too big for joe scale?

It works with that body but I'm not sure it would look right on the smaller 25th ninja torso.

I like the Ages of Action ninja head better but the schleich head is a nice alternative. It would be perfect for a fantasy style assassin for HeroQuest. You could dremel out the head and use the hood with a different head too.

I really don't like it when people guess my plans. I'm kicking around using the MU Ronin figure with this head.

Saw someone on one of those other forums that uses fabric to make his mag pouches and all kinds of stuff. So, I decided to try it out but with Hockey tape for one because it's what I have and 2 it seems a little more flexible or form fitting at this point.

Let me know what you think or any suggestions

No they can't, the sticky side is agains the plastic, although I could place two pieces taped to each other but the material may look to thick.

I might try it though to at least have one working pouch.

thanks for the idea.

That looks dang good Rick!...wonder what making an entire vest would look like?...it would have a nice texture...also wonder if theres a good way to finish off the edges?...and maybe apply some clearcoat to the pieces of tape you don't want to be sticky instead of doubling up the tape...it should cut down on stickiness and thickness...

Hmmmm, maybe if you take your favorite vest and apply the tape to the inside of it on the smooth surface and then cut the excess off revealing the shape, take the tape off and then apply the front surface using the tape so it gets some thickness and the fabric texture of a vest? Then add the pouches.

I might try that

Finishing up my hockey tape vest. I'll post pics tomorrow. Used the Shock Trooper vest as an example. I used up the loose mags I had and will be ordering a bunch. I think I might be hooked on this. First attempt came out better than I thought.

Question: Mag pouches, do they hold just one mag each or two?

Those pouches look good. I think if you used the tape and added straps to the original vest, it would appear more uniform.

All of my real life pouches hold a min of 2 most hold 3. That is my AR pouches My AK pouch holds 2. I really don't have much real world experience with AK pouches.

Pouch capacity also depends on how the mags are orientated in the pouch. The standard issue M16/M4 pouch holds 3 mags, stacked side by side, left to right. Some of these newer pouches hold 1-2 turned flat, like what Rick did above. Sometimes you'll see 2 rows of these flat pouches on a rig, like 2-3 across.

Ok, here is my first attempt at making a vest , hydration pack and pouches out of hockey tape.

To improve I need to fold over the edge of the tape where it meets the exposed mag to creat a more finished look.

The uneven flap on the chest pouch doesn't look as pronounced as it does in the photo but that is a detail to finish better next time.

The webbing straps need to be more in line with the lines in the fabric.

The Hydration pack was a fun accessory to make and by just folding over the hockey tape to be double sided it works very well and sticks great. I just took a piece of plastic fodder cut it to size and wrapped it. the tubing is from the head set of the WWII nazi tank driver.

This ^^^ is what I was referring to when I said 1-2...I meant 1-2 deep...wide, no idea...most ive seen them wide is three pouches IIRC...I'd think if you really wanted you could wrap two or three 3-wide/2-deep pouches around you...so getting crazy, you could have up to 18 mags around your waist!...

Like how it came out though Rick...like you said, could use some cleaning up, but the direction is promising...also looks like it could be constructed to it flatter on the shoulders...might look cool if you threw a dust scarf/collar kinda thing around his neck and over the vest...
