The original art had a mixture of good guys and bad guys solely because Mattel didn't tell Rudy Obrero who the fuck was who. They just told him to go nuts, and he did :)

Have a look at the He Man/ Battle cat art lol, Skeletor and Beast man riding Battle cats... dafuq?

evidently all mounts were green tigers then, not just a single "special" one. Love the art work regardless

Originally advertised product on the left, actual product on the right.

Intel provided by one of the MOTU fans on Facebook.

Ok, that's f#$%ing sad. And the more Scott talks (he put up MORE crap yesterday trying to weasel his way out of the bait-and-switch talk) the worse it gets. This thing is useless to 6" figures. I just keep telling myself that it'll be great for my custom 4" brigade.

I really love that old artwork. Any of the 80's artwork that was painted trumps ANY of the shit on packaging now. It's sad we've essentially lost that craft and moved onto crappy digital art.

Holy fuck, $100+?

Yeah, Beastman is one I'd want if I started collecting MOTUC. That just gave me more reason NOT to start ever collecting that line.

Those kinda high costs are what keep me from being a completist of that line

Oh, the sheer amount of "don't give a fuck" random guys would gladly keep me from being a completist. But I know that once I'd start, I'd keep adding the stupid ones until I damn near collected them all.

I had quite a few stupid ones as a kid, so I'd wind up wanting the ones I had as a kid, plus the ones I never got but wanted, like Merman and Mossman.

I still may get He-Man and Battlecat. Both of those are fucking awesome, but then I'd need Skeletor, and things would just snowball.

Dark Horse

Ultimate Z-list celebrity
I got BM, SG and Whiplash for $50 each, which is almost standard price for an MotUC figure over here. All three go for around $100 each on the Bay so I reckon I did good.

I'm very happy to have cherry picked all the figures I wanted pretty easily. I don't want figures like Wun Darr or Shadow Weaver, or even the Sorceress.

Despite that CUNT Scott Nutlick, I'm enjoying this line pretty much more than any other. The fact that if I sold all my figures right now, I'd probably make three times what I paid for them is cool also. :)

Damn, $100 for a Beastman?! I might have to just give up and sell my whole collection. That's insane. I suppose it's more insane that they don't have these perpetually available. How can they expect to keep a line bringing in new blood like Rex and Eddie if the main 10-12 characters are out of production and cost a benjamin on the secondary market?

I think anyone that is an actual completist of this line in the strictest sense is taking it sans lubrication. There are so many goofy marginal characters, and then there are some z-list nobodies that appeared in one corner of the background in one filmation episode. It's insane how obscure some of them are. They make SW cantina patrons look like household names... On the other hand, they've exhausted most of the real characters, so why not wallet-rape the nerds willing to buy anything in MOTUC packaging? Gotta catch 'em all!

I'm done with the figures, and I'm just waiting on what's left of the originally promised castle.

Or they could start reproducing out of production characters to create new income...idiots

They could easily drag this out for another 5 years by doing second pressings of the earlier and must-have figures, even with a packaging change — do a black/white box or something to offset it, or a "Hall of Heroes" take and making minor mold revisions with newer library parts, or change some minor paint detail on the figures so opened ones couldn't be passed off as the wrong ones.

I'm fine, though. I don't really want MOTUC to have my money, and my girl would much rather me never start any more collections.

I'm still looking for a Whiplash (motuc), anyone have one they care to trade? I have a vintage complete Night Raven I'm willing to give up for it.

That's some good stuff Dark Horse. The cats are among my favorite in the series.

Akunin, with the omission of the Conan-and-friends shelf (I have no idea who the hell any of those are) and the She-Ra shelf (I guess, anyways?) I can see myself being into roughly about 75% of your collection, plus/minus a few swap-outs. Evil-Lynn is really a great figure, damn.

A few questions: Why is the Teela-looking normal chick on the shelf with the Horde guys? Is that She-Ra's "Adam" persona? The figure looks familiar but I honestly haven't seen any media in nearly 25 years, so she escapes me.

Also, did Panthor always have that head armor?! I swear I don't remember it, but maybe my child self lost it. :(

I had to get acquainted with a few of these myself. I started the line only wanting a select few and so far has expanded into this.

The Conan looking guy and the green looking nasty are what He-man and Skeletor were pitched to look like originally (the reason Conan Co. went after Mattel and why they changed He-man to blonde to begin with). Since then they were given names and bio to fit into the overall canon.

As for the Horde shelf, yeah that's Adam's sister Adora who was a Horde member Force Captain. I wasn't interested in the figure until rumor began that we might get a Despara figure based on the new MOTU DC comics. Adora looks like this in the new comic

and it isn't anything like the old He-man to be sure

That's just one figure I'd love to have. The Hordak (looking) helmet is just slick.

As for Panthor, this is the first time he had armor on his head. At first I didn't care for it but it's grown on me.

as for the Conan and friends shelf

from left to right

Demo Man, the original design for Skeletor

Vikor, again the original design for He-man (sword doesn't come with the figure)

King Grayskull, according to Mattel the guy who built the Castle and He-man (Adam's) ancestor

The Faceless One, introduced in the 200x cartoon and Evil Lyn's father

Count Marzo, another character introduced in the 200x cartoon

Ah, Demo-Man was bonded to Keldor or some retcon-nonsense to make Skeletor. :) I recall reading that somewhere, now. And yeah, he looks just like Conan.

I guess "King Grayskull" makes sense. I just thought he was "King He-Man" like when He-Man was finally crowned King.
