Same logic that didnt have Renegades figures on the shelves until long after the series aired?
I still would like someone at Hasbro to explain how it's a good idea to make such terrible figures in Waves 1 and 2, and then go ball out with GREAT MOVIE RELEVANT figures in Wave 3.. why not have the figures that are actually representative of the movie, oh I don't know, ON THE SHELVES when the movie comes out?!
Grrr.

Yeah I don't know, and they wonder why they can't get the brand going..
RoC was pretty good I guess, with the Desert Duke and Destro and Baroness etc in Wave 1.. I remember them having different case assortments with "movie" figures in one case, and the other had "expanded universe" or whatver.. like Flash, Helix, etc.
Of all the things RoC did wrong, they did a pretty good job with the figure design and marketing, etc. I found most everything at retail, and TRU etc had some good sales (2 for $10 etc).
I wonder what the profit margin difference is between a figure like the shitty Flint and the "Ultimate Flint".
Dunno about you, but I'd love to see that on a figure card: "Shitty Flint." "Fully poseable!" "Five points of articulation!" "New From Mattel!" "DEATH OF THE LINE!"

I could see this being true since Zartan had been in command the whole time, he could use budgetary measures etc to keep whittling down the GIJOE project until that was all that was left. A small, specialized QRF (quick reaction force). Maybe a couple of Generals fought to keep the JOE's around...
The strike was the last way to ensure they were eliminated..
..
Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
Have they EVER gotten the media-accurate-tie-in figures out on the shelves at the right time with the corresponding media, besides ROC, since the 25th line hit?
Resolute? Nope, 6-months to a year in advance, then nothing, then like a year or 2 later to kinda-sorta complete the teams in 7-packs.
Renegades? Nope. Like a year after the show was cancelled? 6 months?
Retaliation? Well, they did have figures on the shelves for when they were supposed to launch the movie, then they decided to push the launch 9 months. And they still couldn't get movie-accurate figures on the goddamn pegs by the time of the launch. That there, may be the saddest one of them all. They had a built-in NINE MONTH DELAY. But, nope.
They could've launched the shitty wave 1-2 figures in January or February, but maybe stores weren't having it. Who knows.
I'm not going to pretend that Transformers or GI Joe had a strong, fleshed-out story in either cartoon or comic format. I've never read the TF comics, but from what I've read, they sound just as stupid as the cartoon. The Hama comics are moderate at best, and definitely more serious than the cartoon, but they're far from the masterpiece that Joe fans seem to wank themselves to sleep with.
Do I expect a Dark Knight?
And FF got hit by the truck, HARD!...how were his legs not busted?...how did he not have a concussion?
And I agree, having "GI JOE!" on all the fucking patterns was stupid. They still had that in Retaliation. I caught in on a closeup of Duke. And the Joe flag, which looks like some graphic designer spent 15 minutes designing a crest. Just awful. A secret military organization doesn't need a goddamn logo!
