I thought so too! I posted it at TWF2005 and nobody so much as mentioned it.

So my Rumble (I'm calling the blue one Rumble from here on out) came with a huge gash down his left cheek. I didn't catch it till after I had opened it and saw it under better lighting the next day. I was able to use a VERY fine brush and touch it up with Tamiya chrome silver acrylic and you can barely notice it now. I also touched up the missing silver spots on Laserbeak, too.

How long have you had that idea in your head?...that woulda been great for the June banner theme

I dunno, I just realized the other day that the Cassetticons can hold the SDCC Soundwave by sliding the backpeg into the peg in their hands. It's a perfect fit!

I really wish I had the official Megatron, but I didn't want that gigantic $100+ Starscream Skystriker just to get it. I got the cast from Tofujesse, but it's not the same.

Just got in my Quakewave! I'm off work today, and glad that FedEx delivered it, because UPS always drops off stuff after 8pm. :D

The only qualm I have with him is the cord. I need to look online but the wire's rubber casing where it comes out of his backpack is split, and you can see the metal wire inside. I guess since it doesn't really do anything, that it's not a problem other than cosmetic. I may replace the wiring, though, even if it's accurate. I don't have any issue with any of the other "flaws" that folks have reported, but glad I know some of the issues so I can handle him properly, like the gun hand issue. Otherwise, the reset are nitpicky and I actually prefer the blockier feet design, personally, and the color is plenty dark enough for my tastes.

The biggest excitement so far was popping his torso up and releasing the extra waist articulation. He does have a slight "plastic" smell that's a tad overpowering, which some people have mentioned as cheap, and I do think that's a little bit of a drawback, but nothing major. I actually prefer his smaller box with the opening-front flap, and wish Takara had done that with their MP line from the beginning. Some of their boxes tend to be on the silly-big side, especially with MP-11.

Also, with Captured Prey's shipping/packing, all I gotta say is I'm really impressed. The box came wrapped in tissue paper, like a present, complete with tape. That was laid into a box padded on the bottom with a nice layer of bubble wrap, then adequate paper was stuffed in around it and at the top. This protects a major thing that some folks don't always think about: someone cutting into the box with a blade to open it! (I'm always careful, but it's an added consideration.) Mad props to Captured Prey on the packaging. Lately, I've been getting more annoyed at shippers for lack of padding, and CP did fantastic at this. Well worth the delay in shipping everything all at once.

Did you have a similar issue with the backpack? It just doesn't fit flush due to the damn cord.

You can flip it upside down and it hangs lower, but it looks weird and inhibits waist movement.

I'm an idiot, the piece on the back flips up and plugs into the backpack. The joints are so crisp and tight I didn't even realize it was a panel that could move!

Although the wire housing itself is still split, so that sucks. I wonder if I can fix it or swap it with something else, as the rubber on the wiring seems brittle/cheap. Otherwise, the rest of the material seems great. I don't know why people bitched about such petty things as plastic texture.

Dang that's awesome!...did he come with that mini version of himself?

And yeah, while CP may take longer to ET stuff you (why they their products later than everyone else is a mystery) they make up for it in slightly cheaper prices and great customer service...and like you said, great product packaging...Captured Prey IS my go to place now...

Nah, the mini Shockwave came in another set I got a few weeks ago for $10 (the rest of the kit was throwaway crap for the MP-03 mold). I actually had Soundwave holding him until Shockwave arrived, I just thought it was a funny pairing.

Of all the things that people have bitched about that was "wrong" with Shockwave, I'd say he does have a slightly nauseating smell straight out of the package (I'm hoping he needs airing out to kill the plastic smell) and the cord on mine has a tear in it, but I believe I can glue it and it'll be fine. The "power cord" to his arm doesn't actually peg into anything functional, since the electronics for the arm-cannon are all housed in his forearm now.

Besides that, the figure is pretty fantastic. The only thing besides the packaging and lack of a Decepticon sigil (easily fixed by Reprolabels) that makes him slightly sub-Masterpiece-level (talking total package here, not the figure itself) is that he comes with zero accessories besides his "backpack", which pegs onto him (quite clever little bit, too, I may add).

Granted, he's a gun himself so he doesn't need a gun, but it would've been neat if he had some sort of extra accessory, even a pistol or something from the cartoon.

waitaminute.... someone wanted a MOTU subforum, so TF gets "unforumed"?!

While it's true there has only been one TF megathread, now we're going to be ridiculed by the marvel and SW forum geeks who still have their own sub-forums.... oh, wait, we are the marvel and SW geeks too. Are we supposed to make fun of ourselves now?! I'm so confused... ;)

Punishment for asking for more pourage, is even less??...that'll teach us

Indeed! I am a vengeful forum god!

I was trying to justify my denial for MOTU and realized that the Transformers forum was super dead too. SW and MU are on the cusp.. there is just not enough news/excitement going on.

Wonder whats going to happen with Hasbro and SW...

Anyway, back to your little fairy shape shifting machines :) (I'm a universal hater!)

It just makes me glad that Hasbro did the vintage collection. It'll look good on display, and when someone else, *cough*mattel*cough*, gets the license from disney and totally screws the pooch (because they are ignorant clods who couldn't make a tolerable 4" figure if George Lucas's life depended on it), I'll still have enough SW to keep several generations of the nacho-family entertained.

Eddie, did you see where BBTS now has the Eye of Metroplex on pre-order from Dr Wu? I got the proto from you over a year ago! Why did it take them over a year to produce an egg?

Nothing is coming out anywhere.

- 1:18th stuff has had one chopper rehash in the last 18 months, and lots of promises about news maybe coming one day about a product you might like but will never actually see production.
- SW is basically on hiatus until fall when the black series comes out.
- Joe has one more wave and then nothing b/c they sat on their hands waiting for the movie to come out.
- TF has little to get excited about except 3P stuff that has slowed to a crawl itself.
- Marvel... other than hunting for the elusive Prof X, MU is down to a wave or two per year, and ML is doing the same... except they make everything a variant, and it's always the second variant that everyone actually wants, but it never comes out. Dani Moonstar anyone?
- MOTUC.... is dead until Cottage Grayskull comes out in Dec.

WTF toy companies! How about you make something besides japanese card/spinning-top games? Maybe work on a toy that isn't an SDCC exclusive?

I just had a thought, and I'm pretty sure it will come true. In the future, there will be no toy isles or toy e-tailers. ALL toys will be SDCC exclusives. That will be the only place to buy a toy all year long. They will all cost 10x normal prices, and we'll all have to fly to cali and stand in line for a week to get our fix. No regular waves, no buying singles online for "only" 2x normal retail. The toy companies will make all their money by making only exclusives. Toy armageddon. It's toymageddon!

It sure would make it easier for me to give up this addiction, so I'm good with that...

Only that's kept me going lately is picking up toys that have been out for years (MOTUC)...other than that, it's been sloooooooooow...

The toy sections have become very pointless as of late...guess the lony time to get toys will be around Christmas...they've all taken Big Lots lead

I actually picked up the first toy from a store in months... I grabbed that new-sculpt Hulk that's been out forever but I've never seen in person. $10, but it was the first time in ages I've been in a goddamned store and they've had ANYTHING I wanted. Joe pegs have had zilch but a dumbass RB or SE or two since the line came back out, and I was sick of seeing those last summer. Marvel has Gladiator and shit loads of Avengers and Iron Man 3 crap out, and that's it.

It just sucks. It's ALL fucking Iron Man, and they're not even good figures.

For once they actually have a reason to have 45 different damned armors because they're in the damned movie, and they fuck that up. How is that even possible?

Hasbro? Who knows.. you'd think IM2 sales were good.. if it works.. fuck it up!

I guess everyone had their fill of Ironman suits last round.

Is there any need anyone to buy them again with less articulation and no one to fight?

If they had IMPROVED articulation, accessories, details, etc. You know, the types of things normal companies do when they move forward with a product line..

I'd be all over them, budget pending.

As it is I'm like Grampa Simpson:

Also from that Gizmondo visits Hasbro:

Look at that Metroplex. Fuuuuuuck.

That metroplex is going to be sweet. Holy smoke, look how he dwarfs that MP Soundwave...

IM3 toys are beyond sad. They took the ESB Take-apart C3P-O and made 73 different IM suit variations. 5 POA. But it's INTERCHANGEABLE! Mix and match kids! You know, because every kid wants a 5 POA IM figure that looks like it was made from the discarded parts of multiple suits....

I think we all recognize that times are tough, the economy sucks, plastic costs are high, toys have to compete with video games and texting, blah, blah, blah.... but who the f@*# at hasbro thought that these were a good idea?

Maybe it's WM's fault, demanding a lower price point or a higher margin figure? But it's hard to imagine that the margin was the driving factor. Newsflash: margin doesn't matter when you don't actually sell the product. These have absolutely no redeeming value. When they put these on double secret clearance for $1.99, I still can't imagine who would buy them. No fodder + no fun = no sale. If I gave those to my kids, they'd say no thanks.
