I've done that before when I wanted brown joints on a SlipStream...but either the joints or arm pegs are permanently damaged...this can create slop I'm not particularly fond of...

Regardless, a fully painted figure does not fit in well with a factory collection...

Yeah, I feel the same way. It's not just the pegs. It's the areas around the elbow joint and shoulders, mostly. And knee joints.

I generally paint entire legs, heads, webgear, and even the "pants" part of the torsos. But I won't paint full torsos or arms unless I have to because it's a cast kit.

How hard is it to remove those? Don't think I ever tried that.. cracking the chests was risky enough for me lol
I still haven't done that yet!

One of these days I will show up at your door JoeRhyno just so you can crack open torsos for me.
That customizer get together on the WI border is just too far away. Maybe wedge & I can come over one day? :proposetoast:

Paint rub somewhere is just a fact of life. All you can hope to do is minimize it as much as can be.

And until the day Hasbro can pull off intricate patterns like tigerstripe at the factory ol' K-T is gonna have to do it himself.

They have the technology to do it. Retaliation Lady Jaye's digital pattern and Convention Wet-Suit's woodland are both pretty detailed. I'd love for them to start doing more with their camo patterns.

I'll grant you that the digital on LJ is nicely done, even if it is only two-color.

I used to be an extremely lazy customizer, then once I found ways to avoid paint chipping and keeping figures as possible. I find testors paint to be incredible when avoiding paint rub.

Lady Jayes are UP in the Club Store now. Go! $50, which is ridiculous, but I snagged 2. One for myself, and one for MW. (I have 2 memberships, there was a limit of 1 per account.)

*EDIT*

Fuck, apparently they were up before now. I guess I got 2 signed ones, which sucks. I don't want the voice actor's signature ruining the card art. Oh well.

$50? Fuck that.

Yeah, I am assuming it was due to the fucking signature. I actually like the figure, though, and wanted one carded at the very least. I wanted one UNsigned, for the $25 price or whatever she went for. But I guess I checked too late. I've been checking it off and on since yesterday.

Also, seems she's already sold out. Sigh.

GIJoeCon Non-Attending Package and Membership Figure Update:

The factories in China got behind on the Convention items and only the attending items shipped before the convention. The Non-Attending items are on a ship now and we anticipate getting these in the mail/fedex to you the last week of May. We apologize for the delay. We didn't want to put a date out until we were sure they had shipped.

All of the Membership Figures are scheduled to ship next week. The company that has done the mass fulfillment for us in the past went out of business and we didn't know this until we tried to arrange for this year's shipment. It took a little while to find a new company to provide this service for us.

After these figures ship we will put the remainder of the carded and loose Iceberg figures and Comrade of Action figures and accessories in the store.

Thanks for your support!
Brian

If any member here who attended and got a carded Lady Jaye wants a signed Lady Jaye, I'd be willing to do a straight-up trade so long as your card isn't fucked up. Preferably a member in good standing here.

I simply don't like my stuff scribbled on, I don't care if it's the voice actor or some random jackass with a Sharpie.

OOPS, she's still up. I guess after I bought mine, she disappeared from inventory until I logged back out (they won't let you buy more than one with a single account.)

Nice for the Club to stagger their emails. It would have been cool if they waited a day so that all of the Club Members would have gotten a chance at it rather than those whom get the e-mail first. I did not get the e-mail until 4:45 pm and my friend still has not gotten his yet. He usually gets his a good 2 hours after I get mine. Another excellent and fair job goes to the Club!!!

It is very frustrating as they could have been up front about this issue from the get go regarding the Box Sets. Why did they wait so long to tell us this when they had to have known this before the convention started? And no, I don't need f^&#$^^$#g Troynos to play simantics on how I feel about it. I am an upset consumer.

FUCKING Bullshit!

Thanks for getting me one, but it's still bullshit. Crazy how fast she sold out.

The shipping is insane. The first one, I just rushed through and totally didn't even catch that it said "AUTOGRAPHED" in the description. It's tough to tell from the image. One carded figure was like $12, plus $1 for bubble wrap.

Then I logged out, logged into my second account, put another LJ in and grabbed 2 $10 star-case sets (for a whopping total of 8 Joe clamshells for $20... high way robbery) and shipping for those cases plus a single figure was damn near $20 or some shit.

Apparently the Club employs people with a Masters Degree or higher in Shipping. Because that's gotta be the reason behind such premium shipping rates.

$1 for Bubble Wrap. Fucking Assholes

I was so mad about my Footlooses. I paid $2 for Bubblewrap, and then they wrapped the loose one back to back together with the carded one using ONE piece, and in doing so dented the card from the loose figure pressing into it. Had they wrapped each one individually, there would've been no problem. Instead, they messed up the one item that shouldn't have been messed up.

Fuck all those guys blindly defending the teat. Between HissTank and that stupid FB page, I wanted to set fire to all those assholes on principle alone, gobbling up the Club's cock. The Club isn't as bad as a lot of people (including myself) rant about, but damn if they deserve much praise or defense.

This last year and a half has been a management clusterfuck, regardless of some of the awesome stuff they have made.

I just don't get why people still buy from them, aside from scalper pricing, Its issue after issue after issue with them.
Because they're the only source.
They are the only game in town. Fucking monopoly.

Yeah, that. If there was ANY way, and I mean paying upwards of $5 more per figure than what the Club is charging for BBTS or Hasbro Direct or whoever else to handle the shipping and orders, I gladly would. Sadly, the Club IS the only place, and if you want it you have to buy from them, or some scalper on eBay, or just go without. And of those options, "Go without" or "Go with the Club" is the cheapest way.

I don't like playing into the problem nor am I proud of it. It's not enjoyable but I have my collection and as long as I'm in it, I'll have to keep paying those ridiculous prices or eventually call it quits.

I find it funny that they're blaming the factory yet again on it.

Also, there really is no way for them to win on that one. But they could send the fucking email out a DAY in advance. Not everyone stalks their Facebook page and HissTank threads. Hell, the Club isn't even consistent in where it makes announcements. They have 2 Facebook pages (1 for the Club, one for JoeCon) and then their main site, plus they send out emails. It's like some twisted Social Media game to keep track. "Oh, you didn't get the e-mail? We posted a link on Twitter that took you to our Instagram page that had a link to Pinterest and if you click on that..."

I had today off work, so I was able to pop in and catch it in time. But I paid for 2 figures through 2 different login/cart/completion cycles, they sold out, I got my invoices, THEN I got the Club's email stating that "Hey guys, Lady Jayes are going to be up for sale!"

It's not that goddamn difficult to time stuff. At least give a fucking window. I agree it's not fair, but they'd get swamped regardless. They should just not even bother, or send it out days in advance and at least give a 24-48 hour window.

Get this... This dude on Facebook posted this on the Club's page:

lol the funny part about the signed Lady Jaye is that I was there when she signed them at the hotel restaurant ... they sat right next to my table... and when she ask why she was signing them for ... the guy from the club never told her they were for resale at higher prices, he said they where for charity auction and for other similar type of purposes !!! As much as the club do not always treat their members with respect "wink wink Brian" They could at least not take advantage of their guest !

I am curious how long it'll take them to delete it. And I don't doubt at all that it happened, although he could just be bullshitting. That's an extra $2500 in the Club's pocket if that's the case, that the voice actor didn't get.

Yet another reason to stay away from GIJCC. How many blatant lies have they been busted on this year alone so far excluding the autographs since its not confirmed.
1- Iceberg head
2- Grunt head

What else......

Got my 2013 JoeCon sets in today. I gotta say, for once they were packaged well in a sturdy box. I have some work to do (business-work, not customizing), but I'll inspect them tonight for any missing parts, etc.

At first inspection, I've got to say I'm impressed with the quality. The Con sets are usually pretty well done, despite the lack of much new tooling. This year's new head sculpts are fantastic, though, and the decos on the good ones are pretty good. (There are still turds like Spearhead that leave me scratching my head, though.)

Also, got the Chuckles in from Hellion the other week. He and I split a 2-pack, and that figure's pretty well done, too. Wish I could get the Steeler and chick pilot, but they're not worth the cost to get them. I decided on Chuckles because the first one was so silly looking, and the new 30th parts help to update him a little better.

The set did indeed look like it was pretty nice...with so much ME parts usage though, I'm not surprised...those parts just look of a higher quality...

Good lord you're bonkers! :D

If those were at retail, I might pick them up for fodder purposes, but they do nothing for me nostalgia wise...

The Frag and SAW are the only ones I'm even remotely interested in...

But thanks anyway for trying to temp me with that apple you snake
