I ended up using a Marauder laptop screen...it's smaller than the ones from RoC and the hinge is rounded and fits into the hand for the figure to hold it.

I think I've got the BBI ones with the printed keys and screen somewhere around here.

Gah, I just bought a couple of those, too. Gotta dig those out and see what's up.

Forgot about the tiny screen in the Resolute Destro case… That'd almost be perfect if it wasn't attached to a tougher-than-fuck-to-find case. The only releases were with that Destro and the POC Hawk, right?

So I'm pondering where to start on the Schleich plane. I read up on the clipped wing J3s, so I was thinking maybe I could live with the short wings, but then I found my old ARC-170 project. I immediately have the issue of hard points resolved, and I'm now seriously considering trying to mate up the wing tips from the ARC to the Schleich's.

I have the HD. I would have given you the display for free. ;)

Eh, it's not a huge loss. But thanks, I didn't realize that. I figure after I pay you to ship it, $10 shipped ain't the worst thing in the world. Say, what sort of backpack peg holes do the VvV figures have? I've honestly never wanted to own let alone hold that trash because, well, they suck. His backpack seemed interesting, may use it for my Sparks.

It's similar to the ARAH style, so you'll be clipping it and adding an ME-compliant one.

Meh, not difficult. I just dislike the unclean edge if it's visible. I didn't know if they'd changed the back-peg or foot peg from the ARAH designs or not, considering how broad the damn shoulders and weird the other proportions are on those figures.

Slaymaker graciously sent me a set of Ren. Scarlett legs, so tomorrow I reckon I'll start hacking and drilling to combine these 3 sets of legs into one cohesive unit!

The only thing I need to find now is a set of arms and my pilot will be ready for paint. Maybe the Star Wars line will provide?

I would of had Lady Jaye sent to you sooner, but if I'm not getting swamped at work or college, I'm getting snowed in. I'm still gonna send em though. Along with Budo and some other stuff I find and or paint.

I think I'm gonna start a Grid-Iron… More modern take on him, though, sort of like what Cloud did if I remember correctly. But I do want a football-ish helmet. The facemask on those 1:18 sports star figures (I can't recall the brand, but they're articulated all weird but with decent articulation), on the football players, is the helmet removable? What about the facemask, can it be cut off?

I know they're like $10-15 at TRU. I can run by tomorrow and snag one if someone on here's had any luck in cutting the mask off. I'll likely graft it onto a POC-Dusty cast helmet.

The mask should clip off easily. How it'll look when you're done is anyone's guess. My experience with the Playmakers line outside of seeing NFL figures at Tuesday Morning is the two Yankees I bought.

Now, those two have separate hat/helmet pieces. They're glued on pretty good, and I'm sure they're pegged/slotted into the head in some fashion, as well.

They can probably be finessed off with some patience.

Here's an update. The top portion was reduced down in detail so I can model the middle piece without computer limitations. Since this version is an untucked shirt, I went with less wrinkles towards the bottom. If I get around to doing a tucked version, there will be more bunched wrinkles towards the bottom.

Hmm… How common are they at Tuesday Morning? I'd rather not spend $10-15 for a helmet, and we have a TM nearby… And I don't care what player it is, so long as the helmet looks decent.

Mine had a fair supply. I don't frequent any boards that center on sports figures, so I can't say how widespread the distribution is. Wouldn't hurt to stop in and see.

So you're gonna do a three piece torso?...sorta like modern and ARAH torso articulation combined?...that'll be pretty cool if so...

I really wish Chick-Fil-A would open shop around here...

We did recently get Dickeys BBQ, so that's cool...they aren't open yet, but I'm eager to try em out...anyone else have Diceys in their state?...if so, how is it?

Yup. Except without a O-rings. I want a more realistic crouch/sitting position.

We ain't got shit. I mean, we're suppose to be prideful of shitty coney islands, but we don't have anything good around here. Nothing home grown that other places want and nothing that's any good from other places. It's culinary hell here.

We got one here a couple of years ago. It's pretty decent without doing the work yourself.

Forgot about the little shitty Tuesday Morning near the TRU. Swung by and found the pegs full of those football players! Score! Thanks KT. I snagged 2 in case I fuck up removing the face mask but they look to have pegs that glue into the helmet.

Also picked up a Bilbo/Gollum pack for $7. Been eyeing the scarf Bilbo has for awhile for my Ghostrider pilot custom...

Joe- wasn't trying to tell you how to spend your money (although being an officer has some great perks) just that I'm sponsoring a contest right now (for the officers) that your team would've been the perfect entry for. I really like what you've got going there.

So I was able to pry apart the Eli Manning figure I got. They're considerably detailed and well sculpted, but strangely articulated. Stupid McFarlane! I'm pretty sure they could achieve the same articulation as Joes or MU (possibly more!) with less joints, if they were just smarter with the design. The double-jointed necks are nice, but I don't get why the hell they couldn't make the figures have removable helmets. :shakefist:

Not that I particularly give a shit, because fuck sports.

The head is essentially a Lego head (face painted only, with a big round peg on top) and the helmet is 2 pieces. The helmet is made with the chin strap attached to one side, and with 2 pegs on the other side, so that it's glued onto the head, then the chin strap is pulled across, pegged-in, and glued. Then the facemask is a separate part, held on by 6 pegs (2 on each side, 2 at the forehead).

Anyways, I don't think I'm going to use the actual helmet anyways, but if you're careful, you can remove the football helmet and reuse it by prying with a small flathead screwdriver, although you may need to glue it back together and touch up the paint because I tore part of it around the ear-hole, and the paint cracked in a few spots.

I should be able to drill some 1/16 or 1/32 holes into the military helmet I want to use, which is all I wanted it for anyways. $5 for a faceplate seems ridiculous, but it's a really good sculpt.
