I didn't really know how to group them so if anyone has a better idea let me know. I just put them in alphabetical order for now but if it would be better to group them by genre or style (realistic/retro/animated/) I'm open to suggestions.

I missed that one. I even have it in the database already. I added it and the link.

That is a great line. I got the Samurai and the Norman Knight back in the day. Those Romans will work well with the V-HACKS coming soon.

Well October is a good time to talk about all the great Monster and Horror figures out there.

Lets start with some from McFarlane's Monster Playsets from 1998-99. Each set comes with 2 figures and some diorama bits. I only have the figures out so I don't have the diorama stuff at the moment. ***The link to the Archive is not active yet*** I'll remove this once I add them.

First up is the 2 good Doctors from the Dr. Frankenstein sets.

Next, we have their creations...

The next 2 are my favorites. The Werewolf and Swamp Creature. Both come with a victim that is not pictured.

And the next two are the undeads Dracula and the Phantom of the Opera. Dracula comes with a bat and the Phantom comes with a very British looking actor.

There was also a Hunchback set and a Mummy set that I do not have. I will add pictures a little latter.

Mezco made a line in 2003 for the movie Underworld. The figures were a little on the tall side to be 1:18 but they all came with some awesome display sets and Raze makes for a big scary werewolf.

Also, I don't know if they fall in your remit but the SLUG Zombies were a neat little line of undead Keshi.

I wasn't actually referring to those. There is 2 lines that actually have 10-12cm figures but they are only over in Europe so I don't have any to actually compare sizes to other lines :(

I've tried to acquire them once but they wouldn't send them to the US. Never really tried to get any more.

I picked up the True Legends Knights pack a while back. I really liked the look of the wizard. He has some weird articulation and stance but I like him.

I'm not real big on Knights but they came with the wizard so I have them. I doubt I'll get any more. They kind of take a step forward and a step back with the knights though. They have upped the articulation quite a bit over the other True Legends figures. They now have ball/hinge shoulders, hing elbows and knees, hips similar to the DC Multiverse figures, still have the basic swivel neck, and the even had swivel wrists! That was a surprise. but the plastic they used for the should joints suck and I broke one's arm right out of the package and I just broke a second one's arm off -.-

I have the complete mummy/Anubis set and complete the Phantom of the Opera. Very cool. Figures are just short of statues though.

On another topic, are those Hellboy figs 1:18? I thought they were 6-inchers.

They did both scales for some. The Golden Army thing is about 6 inches but the Hell boy figures are 1:18. There is supposed to be a 3rd variation of Hell-boy even but I haven't looked into it yet.

I got the set as a 4-pack when it was out but they also sold them as single cards. They are very well done. Most of my figures are still in storage and I hoping to get them out and work on getting better at photography and take pictures of all these figures next to some control figures to judge scale better.

Monte Williams has some awesome pictures of the 1:18 Hell boy figures though.

I've got all of those McFarlane monster sets except the wolfman set. In fact, I just dug mine out of storage a few days ago as I was planning on using them as Halloween decorations.

The articulation on the figures may be limited, but they EXPLODE with detail and accessories.

My problem is with the Dracula set. All of the others come with a good vs. evil or an evil vs. evil aspect to them, but the Dracula set...it's just Drac and a bat. No Van Helsing, no "victim". I still can't see why this is.

One time I set up the Drac set and used an Indiana Jones Marion as a Buffy the Vampire slayer type, so it's an easy fix.

Yeah all of McFarlane stuff has great detail even way back in 98/99 when those were made. I wish he and NECA would make some more 1:18 stuff. They would make a killing. I also love Chap Mei stuff for the same reason, yeah they are pretty limited on articulation but their sculptors are amazing. and the designs they come up with are awesome. Way better than most of the re-used crap we see in MU/MI. I just got the Chap Mei Orc Chieftain. Holy crap is that thing awesome. I'll post pics in a few minutes. Chap Mei also has a Legends of Dragon line coming up. The European distributor Top Toy has gotten some of those figure and gave them better paint apps to compete with Scheich and Safari. Those are some nice looking figures for people that live up in northern Europe.

So a few days ago I mentioned the Mezco Cryptozoology Toy Fair sample pieces I picked up. These are the unpainted prototypy figures of Bigfoot, The Jersey Devil, and Mothman.

Bigfoot and JD were cast in all black and Mothman was cast in a translucent yellow/clear color.

So first up is Bigfoot. I really like this figure. He is a bit on the small side to actually be Big Foot but would work great for wild-men types from LOTR.

Next up is Jersey Devil. He is supposed to be red. Star Wars Geek actually has this head in is store if anyone is looking for one.

Finally, Mothman. He also comes with some kind of dead dog. Its hard to tell exactly what is wrong with the dog since it is the same glowy color.

There is also another Cryptid line of figures called Legendary Monsters coming out through a Kickstarter campaign from a few years back. The creator had some problems with getting them actually produced. I've been in communication with him for a while and he said production is back on track and he'll have some for sale after the KS rewards have been completely distributed. They are a little bigger figures, probably around 5" which would be better with some of these type of figures.

Aside from the chupacabra it's probably best that they're larger.

I've got two of those Mezco cryptids...Bigfoot and Mothman, but mine are the production/painted versions...although Mothman is a glowy-green translucent color. I paid a got bit for them and they were oily as all fuck! Had to give them both a nice hot, soapy bath.

Bigfoot is a bit small, but I like him enough. Mothman however has a big problem standing up. He's got those little twig legs that bend all over the place. I've heated them up and bent them back into place I don't know how many times.

I believe the dead dog that came with yours is just supposed to be a victim and was cast in the same color material to save on time and production costs. Mine didn't come with that.

I didn't realize there would be more in the samples. They must have cut the dog out before production. I'll take a picture of it cause it's kind of an odd item. He's just laying there with his tongue out and what looks like maybe his brains pooling above him. Its hard to tell with the glowy plastic it is in. I do have the production Big Foot too. I love that guy. If I had been able to get these when they were out I would have bought a bunch of him. I think I have some serious issues though because I love all the stuff other people seem to balk at. Oh well though, I like my toys.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I really like these figures...although the Jersey Devil doesn't really do anything for me for some reason.

Somewhere I posted a picture of bigfoot carrying away an Indiana Jones Marion over his shoulder.

I wasn't referring to you specifically, more just the industry and fan sites in general. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of interest in fantasy based 1:18 figures. The kickstarter crowd seems to be interested a little and supported a couple indie fantasy/mythology projects but the Hobbit line failed miserably. Even this place doesn't seem to have much interest in fantasy, etc figures. I do realize that this is a much more realistic military site so i'm not really surprised. The people are nice and like the 1:18 scale.

There used to be a forum hosted by Dave of SlayerDave that I really like but that went by the wayside long ago and I haven't been able to find another forum like that one. The people there had a lot of the Angel Forge products they used for their customs.

Anyways I digress and I'll just keep plugging along and posting pictures of my crazy collection and talking about them. Hopefully people somewhat enjoy the pictures and info I bring along.

I do agree with you the Jersey Devil from Mezco is a bit odd. I like the one from the Legendary Monsters line much better. I'm hoping I won't miss out on those when they are available to the general public. Mothman is such a pain to try and stand. Those have to be some of the worst designed legs I have ever seen.

Here is a closer picture of the dog that came with mothman. It looks like its brains and intestines are oozing from its body.

They just don't make fantasy figures that interest me. Far too much Warcraft in the most designs. The 4H figures are looking to trend that way.

My issue with cryptid figures is that the designs are all so ho-hum. I guess I don't want something that follows purported sightings so much as I want designs that are 100 octane nightmare fuel.

I've never actually read, played the MMO, tabletop, RPG with "Warcraft" but I think I know what you mean. I think I just like non-human designs the most more than fantasy per-say because I have a huge collection of Alien figures as well. Which is why I liked Star Wars so much.

McFarlane has a lot of creepy designs. I've been picking some of those up lately to merge in with my other stuff. I agree though and some more terrifying figures would be nice. I like some of the designs from Angel Forge for that very reason.

Pirates!! These are some of the figures from the 4 Pirates of the Caribbean lines by Zizzle and Jakks Pacific.
2nd movie - Dead Man's Chest
Comic series between movie 2 and 3 - Secrets of the Deep
3rd movie - At World's End
4th movie - On Stranger Tides

Flying Dutchman Crew. Nothing like a crew up barnacled zombie pirates.

Pirate Crew -

Locals

Captain Jack Sparrow

Its too bad Jakks canceled their line before this guy was released.

Found some Warcraft mini-statues made by SOTA back in 2004. Here is the Mountain Troll Shaman. There are a couple more that don't look too bad either. A undead shaman and a minotaur.

Here is the cool snake staff that comes with him.

Here is a picture with some Snake Eyes for scale.

Schleich's new skeleton accessory. Due out in July, and looks to have shoulder joints.

It'll probably on the small side, but would work as a background prop, which is what I plan to do with it. There's this stuff, too:

Novelties
