More work on Ripley. Matched the color of the base uniform pretty close and gave it all a "once-over". Sculpted the lower legs to have more pant length, next up is sculpting her high-tops.

Well this escalated quickly. I tried sculpting the high tops, and I got them looking pretty decent....but they are just WAY to thick. I tried re-doing the first one to get all the material thinner but it didn't work. And I can't get it any thinner, it's to hard to work with at that point.

I have the Hot Toys snap kit Ripley sitting here and I keep wondering if I should just cut her feet off and transplant since the detail is really good, but I don't want a footless HT Ripley. And I'm to impatient to send it off to someone, have the feet molded and cast and wait for their return.

Don't do it!! send her to me! I'm not the other guys!! ask anyone who's delt with me,I move fast, because I only cast for personal use!! And I would be interested in casting this. I could have the entire figure cast, and back to you in a week as long as mail behaves.

Did you look at any sports figures? They have nice feet!

You need this:

Action Figures, Toys, Bobble Heads, and Collectibles at Entertainment Earth

1:18 aliens armored personnel carrier.

Wait for the putty to dry then use sand paper to take down the excess.

I'll second the McFarlane Playmakers feet, though the RoC mold Storm Shadow Adidases (Adidae?) will do as well.

It's not the lower feet that are a problem, it's the area just above them. I tried to sculpt the detail there but it's just to thick. With the feet she has, the uppers stick way out. I guess I could get bigger feet but that might look odd given her feminine form.

That's one of the problems I have with the HT Ripley feet, they are made for a slightly more hefty figure. Copies of them on my Ripley might look like big 'ol clompers.

and,..Resolute Scarlett!! thanks again Giga!! (I still owe you limbs)

Cool shit is she stays together w/o glue! I've actually redone molds in the past, because I cast a torso that didn't come apart well, and no longer held together on its own,but by no means was This an easy dissasembly! there is a TON of glue in the bottom! more then any other figure I've come up against! anyways, the figure has a problem that K Tiger pointed out while I was working on it...the neck is retarded long! to fit a head on it,it's gotta be giraffe looking,or so deep into the head you loose all up&down movement..so I grafted a Retaliation Lady Jaye neck to the front upper torso, and made a mold of that:D

Now it looks good with pretty much all the female heads I have:D

This thing was a bitch to cast! There's is almost 40 individual pieces, cast in 2 different types of plastic(medium/soft&Hard),and 5 molds to make this bitch! 6 molds if you count the cute little 1.7oz baby mold I made for the alternate chest!

The Joints are SUPER tiny, and make aligning joints in molds very difficult..and it has tiny oddly shaped soft plastic hip&leg pouches that don't wanna cast right..what a pain!

Only issue left is the knife sheath doesn't allow the knife to go all the way in...I haven't figured out yet how to fix that.

Haha! I'm proud of her! I wanna make another in pure white. Idk why either. I'm not feeling that head on that body tho...I'll probably change this one. I have a few heads from Vortious&Giga. I might try a few out.

I'm amazed at the casting of the swivel hinge joints.

It's really not that difficult. It's just time consuming, and there's a good amount of rejects. At least for me there was. I ran those arms 3 times, and have 1&1/2 sets..either a bubble near a joint, misaligned joint,or malformed finger in the hand...feet I've ran 3 times as well, but have 2 perfect sets...one bubble on a right, one misaligned joint...idk how the hell Vortious makes money doing articulated parts, and now understand why most castors don't sell them..it's a neat novelty, and nice for personal use,but there's no way I personally could do these for others, and it be worth the time&frustration...

With that said, resolute Scarlett is a pretty neat figure! I've never owned one before!

I've already thought up a cool recipe for a figure using this torso&upper legs,but,..I'm outta hobby time for a bit,..:(

Looks that body would make a pretty good Nightstalker with a Cobra emblem on the chest plate.

I did more work on Ripley this weekend. I had hoped to get her completely done but I wasn't feeling well.

Got her head all painted, her outfit got a second and third coat as well as weathering and I sculpted the tops of her "boots". I also gave her a set of Storm Shadow (I think Contraband suggested this?)shoes to give her that bulky boot look. I still need to sculpt a tiny bit more on the boots and paint them. The eyes were relatively easy this time, my hands weren't so shaky and my paint brush was cooperating. I also took a note from this board and used a Micron pen to do the brows, pupils and lashes.

Finished...I think.

Finished the boots, painted them and the watch. Sculpey wasn't the best thing to use to sculpt the upper boot parts, any time I try to point one of the feet downwards, it cracks. I brushed on a layer of thin superglue in hopes of circumventing this problem. I guess I could of used two part epoxy putty (Milliput), but the upper boot parts are so thin, I don't know that it would have faired any better.

And of course she has a problem with her feet in that one foot doesn't seem seated into the ankle hole as much as the other, causing her to lean slightly to one side.

Damn my lack of reading comprehension at work! It looks great Drop, I dunno why I thought you said it wasn't finished. I'll put my foot back in my mouth now.

She looks really good drop! I really like the look of her clothes!

I'm stuck on this set damn of Scarlett arms. I'm a lower arm from having a second full set of black arms, and I'm so mad at it,that I'm dragging ass,so I've been not getting anything else done...after waiting almost 24hours to let the joints get all the way hard, then run an arm mold using them, pull it out 2-3 hours later to find a bubble or a shifted joint! add that I'm running out of plastic! Im getting pissed!

Once I finish these I can run white in the molds ,cause I already made the hard parts.

Also,I bought a neat non Joe figure to cast, and use as a base for a different custom, but I'm unwilling to start anything till I finish this!

Excellent Ellen, Drops! That's far nicer than the SnapKit fig I have. And if you haven't tried Aves Fix-It, you haven't tried sculpting!

No, you're reading is fine, I did put a "?" after I said she was finished...but only because you never know what will need to be fixed, repainted, resculpted, etc.

Adrien, I did try Aves once and liked it, but I can't find it locally. I found Milliput at the local Hobby Lobby and it seems to be about the same thing.

I buy mine off Amazon Prime. I go thru a small set every year or so.

And, maybe paint Ellen's belt. Wasn't it white in the flick? Even if not, it'll give some pop in the big field of blue.

Yep. I only have one left, so unless I can break down and buy the $10 vehicles (and give them to my kids), I'll be done with this soon. I was surprised how little has to be done to the plug to get it to fit the vest nicely.

I have molds of their plugs&their helmets..just ran out of meterials fucking with that resolute Scarlett. those arms are a bitch to get perfect!

so,I've been making molds of other figures while I wait for fedex..I hopefully have enough plastic to pour a figure tonight, but I doubt it.

Been casting this bitch!

Ready have her head in the tank. Bought a few more IJ figures to practice taking apart before I attempt a torso&upper arm cast on her...

and made a mass female foot mold

And cast a few SW heads

And some rejointed upper arms

Just waiting on plastic..
