It now kinda comes off as a TF knock-off game. I may be waiting for deep discount now whereas before I wanted it day one. :grumpy:

Eh, my giveafuck about alt mode details is close to zero. If Sideswipe was shown as a dumptruck, i'd have a problem, but he's a red lambo-ish sportscar that looks almost identical to his CHUG toy and has a G1 botmode. I'm still plenty happy and will buy this on the spot.

Wait wait wait. Not only do you not care if the alt modes are scaled correctly, but you don't care if the alt mode is accurate either?! Your indifference to TF alt modes makes me sad, nacho.

Funny how completely opposite I am. I'm rather indifferent to the robot mode. Since most (not all) of the characters aren't easily recognizable to me, I don't care (or wouldn't know) if they changed the heads and faces and/or bodies so long as the colors are mostly close. I scratch my head whenever someone is complaining about the face not being right. To me, they all looked the same. :racist:

I've always been a car guy. Pretty sure DoH started my fascination. But my love of cars is why the alts were (are) most important to me. That TFs could turn into robots was a cool side benefit. But the toys, even if we could've afforded them, were just a mess. Scales all over the place and robots that were often unsightly compared to their toon counterparts.

We collected Hotwheels and would love it when my dad would get us diecast construction equipment, semis, helos, jets and tanks that were actually in scale with the cars. We lived on a dirt road, so I had a big fascination with construction equipment too. You can see why I like Devastator so much. :D We also had an amazing N-scale train set where scale played a big part. It was important to me that everything be scaled and sized appropriately. Little OCD with everything having to "look right".

As I got older, I started a 1:18th car collection. If it wasn't 1:18th, I didn't want it. Eventually, I got pulled back to TFs...Hercules! As an adult I'm able to collect some of the ones that I envied my friends having most and others that I didn't care much about the characters, but I think the alts are cool. So when I like one, and it's alt is out of scale with another...yeah, not cool.

Unfortunately, it's deeply ingrained in me to care more about the vehicles and their relative size to one another over the robot, so I can't enjoy the franchise as much as most. What's most unfortunate, though, is that Hasbro didn't scale the toys and toons from the get go. If they had done that, EVERYONE would be like me and care about accurate scale because "that's how the toons were!" :lmao:

It's funny reading that back and seeing the almost natural progression from one desire to the next. They all kinda tie in. Wonder what's next? Maybe I'll finish up my "1:18th" Bruder Devy. :D

Well, since I did grow up with the property, my attachment is to the characters, not the disguises. I care that Prime turns into a cabover and megatron turns into a handgun. I care that they turn into the right thing to a degree, but I'm not going to get obsessive about the details as long as they are marginally correct and recognizable.

It's like any other superhero out there. When they tweak Batman's logo or the color of his jammies, I might like one or the other better, but it's still Batman because Bruce Wayne is the guy inside. When they try to replace him with Dick Grayson in the same costume or Jim Gordon in a mechanical bunny suit, then I get pissed pretty quickly. I HATE replacement characters with the passion of 1000 suns.

But with TFs, I know licensing is an issue, and sometimes they want to update them, and as long as I know who it is and they behave consistent with their character, I'm good. I greatly PREFER G1 alt modes (not weird cybertronian shit), and for my MP toy shelf, I would demand it be very G1, but in a video game? The character/bot looks G1, the voice actor is the same guy as 30+ years ago, and the altmode is pretty close. How the hell can I complain?!

Again, I think you must be far more a fan of transforming robots than you are The Transformers property. But I view the characters/bot to be 10x the importance of the disguise. The bot needs to look G1 and have relative bot heights similar to what was typically depicted in the various source media. That is my #1 priority. I care not for alt scale because why would I? I don't leave the toys in car mode, and I likely won't do much driving around in the game in alt mode. All about the bots my friend.

The alt modes are beautiful. That's where it ends. The bot modes are way too busy to even be considered MP. And the combined mode...something seems off.

Every new pic they release of IH, the worse he looks. So much yikes.

Clampdown, on the other hand, is a really cool repaint.

I don't care, I still can't wait for Ironhide and the inevitable Ratchet. They still look better than any of the 3P offerings, even with the weird waist/crotch/hip flaps. I honestly wish they'd hurry the hell up and get us Ratchet, to be honest. If he's any more than 2-3 months behind IH, something's wacky at Takara.

And I agree Eddie, that repaint is cool. I just wish they'd given him a new head, though, or that someone would make a different one. That's the only thing keeping me from making it a must-have, and I generally hate the MP-__X repaints. I'm almost tempted to get it, because I love all the emergency vehicles like Prowl, Red Alert, and Ratchet, and he looks awesome with "POLICE" on the doors on the arms.

So if 16 feet is an accurate length for the real life model that Optimus is based on, then the dimensions of this oversized KO put him between 1:18th and 1:19th scale!

I'm just not sure of the 16 foot length of the real life semi. I had a difficult time finding all but one source for that number.

Well, the G1 model is based on your average mid-'70s+ Kenworth cab-over-engine semi. I wanna say wiki calls it a K100 model.

Using 185" as one of the wheel bases on the real-deal, 16" would be in the ballpark of 1:18.

That's another issue I had. Some sources called OP the Kenworth and some said Freightliner FLA86. I guess since they both look similar and have similar lengths, either works as a base.

Yeah, but the MP-10 Oversize KO is about the same size as MP-01, right? That beautiful beast was only 1:24 IIRC. This KO would have to be friggin' enormous to be 1:18...

I just picked up TRU MP Starscream today. It's an absolute steal @ $59 considering the Tak Mp-11 version routinely retails for $200. I'd feel rooked if I paid an additional buck-forty and all I got for it was a cape and crown! Now we just need a TRU Skywarp, and I'll have replaced all my igear seekers... which aren't bad, but they aren't as slick as the Mp-11 mold.

I ordered on their website, and while they wouldn't ship it to me, they said I could pick it up at my local store. So I bought it this morning and went to pick it up this afternoon.

There were zero on the shelf, just MP Bluestreak. But after an interminable time (~30 min) standing next to the Order Pickup Self-Service Kiosk, some neckbeard came out carrying MP Starscream. Go figure. It took so long, I was expecting them to tell me that they really didn't have any and it was an inventory mistake... but alas, I got one.

I have no idea if he's supposed to be the same size as MP-01. What I do know is that the OS KO is 26cm (10.25in) long and the real thing is (supposedly) 16'ish feet (192in) long. Plugged into a scale calculator, that comes out to 1:18th-1:19th scale. Seems unbelievable to me too. I suspect the 16 foot measurement is off.

I just want the TRU Starscream for the locking torso but fuck trying to track one down and sell off my Takara one.

I missed out on the .25 second window that BBTS had up the XTransbot Boost for preorder by himself, so I buckled and got the 2-pack. :grumpy: Didn't want Tailgate at all, but at least he's a decent looking figure.

I did the math (shouldn't have) and I now have roughly $1700 of MP TFs alone at BBTS on Preorder. It's going to be an expensive year once the fuckers start coming in stock.

A lot of that cost is dinos, huh?

Naw, only $200. They're 3/5 done with them, but the only must-have is Sludge. I was all-in for their Grimlock but they haven't shown pics and discussions about him potentially being a slightly more stylized design has me a little anxious till they show pics. But he's not even up for preorder yet.

Most of it is 3P though, save for Ironhide and Tracks. And a good chunk of that is FansToys. :)

I am down for MP Shockwave. If they do him right, and I'm sure they will.

Doing another Hot Rod so soon is strange. There's many more options out there that I feel like more people would buy than yet another Hot Rod, even if he's in proper scale to the newer cars.

And Shockwave is a probably, but FT did a bang up job with Quakewave. I'm not dying for either of those like I have been with all the other main releases.

I don't mind a proper Hot Rod, as I sold off my MP-9, and I've got DX9 Carry in my PoL for a proper Rodimus Prime. But I'm not impressed with the new Tak protos. The legs look disproportionately short and thin compared to his massive shoulders and torso. Something is very off. Images of Johnny Bravo pop into my head every time I look at the pics of new HotRod.

As for the one-eyed monster, I have Quakewave and I like him ok, and the Tak Shockwave looks ok (the skinny feet and lack of details kinda kill it for me), but I'm more interested in Cloud 9's Quakeblast, which IMO looks way more like Shockwave than either of the other two. I just hope they continue the project in the face of so much competition.

I'm glad Tak is continuing to turn out new products, but when I look at their last three reveals (these two plus Ironhide), I've been seriously underwhelmed. I love all the cool 3P figures that come out, but I still like supporting official stuff too. I don't have a dog in the "which is better TT or 3P" fight. But damn, the HasTak designers just look like they're phoning it in. Is that really the best they can do? Horrible proportions and butt-wheels? One could argue they should be poaching some 3P design talent...

Takara should literally just buy out FansToys. Those guys nail the look the closest, and TT could polish the few bits that don't shine. HasTak should be putting out 2-3 unique sculpts a year plus just as many repaints now that the line is as big as it's gotten. 3Ps are showing them the fuck up.

If Tracks was the one right before IH, I've been underwhelmed by their last four. Why in heck do they do Tracks, and two others everyone already has but drag their feet with the characters everyone really wants like Jazz or any of the other great looking attempts the 3rd party is beating them to.

I've been watching the individual videos of that Devy and really wish I had $600 to spare. Rubber tires!!!

In the past month I have gotten TRU MP SS for $60 and then KO Bee and Wheeljack for $65 total. My collection has taken a huge step forward and I couldn't be happier. Think I'll actually be the real IH if I can get him while he's still $60 at HLJ.

When I look at my BBTS preorders, I have roughly 2k worth of 3P transformers, and one official one (that's MP HotRod, and I'm pretty on-the-fence about him). Fortunately, they are expected over a 6-month period and 3P's are oft-delayed... to put it nicely. Unoffical robots pretty much take up all my discretionary spending.

Joe - gone; except maybe ebaying a Chuckles from the TRU set.
MOTUC - might as well be gone, as they haven't produced a character I've heard of in two years.
DCU - gone
MU - essentially gone
ML - No X-Men = "severe apathy, pick and choose" mode
TF - No more hasbro. Go MP or go home.
SW Black 4" - hiatus, overpriced
SW Black 6" - moved into "All Ep7, All the time!"... just not for me.

Really, 3P Transformers that HasTak refuses to make are the only toys that really get me excited about collecting anymore. It's amazing how quickly things change.
