I would like to make it clear that I'm copying ceraurus' (Hisstank) recipes with a little change here and there.
Yeah, the RnR sculpt is better than I thought it would be before painting it. He's going to be a beast when he's done.
These guys are really great Cloud, the paint is really smooth, and are great updates to the originals.
dude!...KILLER!!!
i absolutely love Flash...easily recognizable, but not goofy like the OG...
and R&R looks great, that headsculpt is really perfect...one thing i don't like about him, and it's Hasbros fault, is that knife shieth...its just silly big and protrudes ou way too much...
I'm planning on doing Grand Slam using the same parts (except for the head sculpt) that were used for Flash, but I'm planning on doing the Version 2 Grand Slam colors (The one that came with the JUMP Jet Pack). I'll probably either use Testors Marine Corps Green or Green Drab (I used this on RnR's web gear straps) for the dark green, but instead of silver, I think I'll use a gray as I don't think silver would work with the parts being used. Thoughts?
Also, should I paint Flash's knee pads a different color? I was thinking about painting them the same gray that I used on the thigh pads.
Those arms on RnR make him look like a horse! Which is great for a dude lugging around a heavy machine gun all day.
Only thing I miss from RnR is the ammo belt... To me, that defines him (besides the shaggy blond hair and full beard) so I wish there was a way for you to incorporate it on him... Even if it was around one wrist or something. (That may throw off the whole balance, though.)
The only thing on Clutch is that I still miss hints of brown on him, like you said. What about the pockets and/or the inside padding strip on his shoulder straps? Just to give a hint of it. And I'd keep it a lighter brown, kind of like the background to this site. Just a suggestion.
Also, hopefully you don't do a dark wash to all of them... That was the one thing on all of ceraurus' customs that I disliked... It made them look grittier but it also made the paint apps look sloppier, when I know that they were actually just crisp paint apps with a messy black wash on top.
Actually, maybe on Clutch, the brown of his boots instead of a iighter brown? I dunno.

*EDIT*
Here, like this:
What about a charcoal gray instead of lighter gray? I always liked Grand Slam the least of all the O13. He was not only a direct repaint of Flash (the other O13 that I hated until recently) but had gaudier paint apps with that bling silver. The JUMP pack doesn't make him any cooler.
I thought they finally showed Shooter in a later "Declassified" issue or something... Shooter's a girl. A black Lady Jaye, more or less...
I have to agree that a black female is far fetched.
Someone had suggested that ceraurus should make the OG 13's infamous 14th member, Shooter. He was on a screen as a name and only part of him showing (face wasn't pictured) in the 1st issue of the original comic run. Since he was never fully shown in the comics, there's a lot of freedom when making him. I want to make him in the same fashion as the OG 13. A sniper seems to be a reasonable specialty for him. I was thinking of using the Steel Brigade Trooper torso and arms (maybe legs) with the Low Light vest. Would the vest work or is it too much of a Low Light trademark?
Suggestions, please!
Racist! Gah!
With a name like "Shooter", you're almost predisposed to become a sniper.
Oh, and as for gear, I don't think that Low-Lights is a good choice, honestly. It's too iconic for LL.
What about the Snake Eyes ("perfect edition") webgear? Cut off those straps, and use that?
Sort of reminds me of this:

I think the Steel Brigade torso would work fine. Although it's maybe a tad um, bright? I wouldn't want to repaint that, especially on a sniper that will need dynamic posing.
Did you consider something like Night Fox's torso and arms? I know that torso is black, but I always thought that snipers should have darker gear. You could maybe do the black top with that rolled collar (like from the Resolute guys or the Steel Brigade) with the SE harness painted OD green? Then have OD green pants. That Night Fox torso is really well articulated, and would work great for a sniper, too.
Actually, I may just use that one for my sniper custom I was planning named "Rooftop". Haha. I had the idea kicking around in my head for awhile. I really like the figure of Night Fox, but hate the generic head they gave him. I wish they'd given him one. (Actually, the NF webgear's kind of awesome, too...)
There's also POC Beachhead's vest that's pretty badass, although maybe a tad bulky. I see an O13 (O14?) sniper as geared up lighter, which is why the SE webgear works well, if you ask me. Add some ammo pouches to it, maybe criss-crossed on the front, and I think you'd be good to go.
Also, if you don't want to go Asian, you could use the head from Ice Storm? He may be tougher to get ahold of, but the only reason I snagged that figure in the first place was for his unique head sculpt. He may look a tad like Low-Light with the low-slung cap, but I think that's okay. They'd be geared up similarly, anyways, right?
I really dig your OG13 updates. I still prefer the original looks better but I really appreciate the updates. I also agree with you about Devils Due, screw them, shooter is a dude.
Shooter in the Marvel run was a nod to the editor in chief at the time: Jim Shooter. You could base Shooter on him.
I love what you're doing with the O-13 POC updates.
Don't worry, MW is always worried about getting head. Mostly from Asian boys.
I like the Grand Slam with the flash on. Without, he's a bit dark, but with the flash, I think it shows a more accurate color representation, correct? I would go with that as-is.
He may need something that differentiates him a bit more from Flash, besides just the colors and new head, but I think you're on the right path with him. What else could you add besides the JUMP pack anyways?
Your versions of the O-13 are awesome...simply awesome.
