new BBI MH-60

I want a D model Huey.
Osprey would be nice but it would be way to big in 1:18. An AS365 dauphin would also be cool. An E model hughs 500 with the pointed nose.

Those are preorders and can be cancelled. Perhaps people are reserving their MH60 in case the price comes down...for 180 though I'd want it to be super detailed and made of tin....not thick looking plastic.

From what I can tell looking at the image below it seems as if the FLIR system rotates up and down but not sure if it does the same left and right. Did Pickelhaube ever get his to rotate or is it casted as one piece?

Pickel's is cast as one piece.

Don't quote me as it has been a long time since I did my upgrade to my pavehawk, but I think it put me back at least $100 more (actually more cost for all the upgrade parts than the helo cost me originially when I bought it [$75] about 4 years ago.
I got:
the window inserts
the fuel probe
the mini guns (not the newer external mounts with external ammo cans, but believe both versions were same cost)
The FLIR
The Radome

The miniguns alone were around $35 at the time.
I still think it was worth it to have a unique helo and it was fun putting it all together.

I only got the nose parts ($20 shipped to AU) and used modified Marauder miniguns I had lying around. I made the rest of the details myself from stuff in my spares box. I also canted the tail rotor and made the rear stabilizer movable. The Blackhawk cost me AUD$70 last year, so my custom MH-60 came to $90. I reckon it's just as good as the new one, and I had more fun making it my own.

If I didn't know any better I think Fled74's banner above was the final straw that broke the camels back in convincing BBI to go public with this re-release. While Pickelhaube is credited for starting this whole fiasco with the release of his aftermarket/custom kit. lol

Ahh...

Thank you.

I guess ????

My Pavehawk kit was my best seller. I have sold well over 150 kits.

I guess the run is almost over. But I do still have the fuel probes.

The M-134s do look great but the cheesy windows do look cheesy. It is a shame to have to carve up a brand new $160 + model jut to open up a window.

That is a hit and a miss all at one time.

I sure wish that I could get my hands on some drawings of that Stealth Penetrator Blackhawk. The 144th scale is somewhat speculative.

If it were truer to scale I would be all over that.

Now that would be a cool mod. But the price would be more than what you guys are commenting on now.

I couldn't agree more. Anybody who has ever put together a model kit should have no problem customizing their own blackhawk to match Fled's in my opinion. Not only that but the scale is large enough to easily work with without pulling out a magnifying glass when adding subtle details compared to 1/48 and 1/72 plastic kits currently sold in stores. As for retrieving spare parts I just crab what every I can find that matches the part I'm trying to match up with. Not everything has to be fabricated from scratch in order for it to work out in the end. Cuts down on cost too. Heck, that's how we did it in the movies. And after its all painted over it will all blend together as one piece if done right.

I'm eating crow. Here I thought a bigger company would be able to offer this cheaper than a small time business. Looks like going the pickle route isn't bad after all. Time to start saving up for what I want from now on instead of expecting a cheaper way to come along. Just need to brush up my painting skills.

Thanks man! When these hawks are released I'll definately get the probe(unfinished) and chances are you'll have one more horten and p-36 to make;)

Also, what would be the chance of an air race mod kit for a P-51. I've been wanting to make VooDoo for years now, especially after knowing the team and getting to crawl around her, and it is by far THE best looking mustang out there

I am not into civilian stuff too much but the Voodoo does look cool.

Other than a more streamed lined prop and spinner that looks like a standard 51 with a slick paint job. I can do the prop and spinner but the paint job should be done by a graphics guy.

I believe the canopy is extended(they also have a bendix racer style canopy in their hangar) I also believe that the the air scoop on the bottom is farther back and smaller, but may be wrong. Don't forget the pink engine too, thats not standard issue :D

Have you looked into cartograf decals for your kits ever? They'd probably be the best for voodoo decals, no way I'd ever mask that scheme.

I just noticed this earlier today but it seems as if the gunner's window may very well be a seperate piece. At first I thought it was just etched into the plastic but if you look very closely in the last image it appears to be clear and reflecting the surrounding area in front of it.

Be that as it may, it doesn't make 170 bucks any esaier.

Looks like they reused the feed tracks from the Kiowa's M296, too.

When I imagine it laden down with Shock Trooper and Alley Viper fireteams I feel the same way.

Then I remember what a big kick in the balls the Supa Cobura was and I snap back to reality.

Shockies in there would be pretty damn nice. Especially getting dropped off on a roof top or something. Damn you 1:18th scale!!! Why must the hobby be so financially painful?!!!

so is that last pic with the clear window, is that still a proto or a production model. The earlier pics have a well done paint job, that new pic, the paint looks like shit
