*frantically scrambles to the smalljoes site*

The old man, brother-in-law and I took the niece out to see the helicopters on base.

I'm telling ya, being that close to them almost makes me want to soften my militant stance.

It's not gonna get us a Hind, though. At this point I think I'd rather wait and see if McFarlane is gonna do the Halo Falcon.

Well I am getting one. Luckily my purchase will actually be a trade.

So the stain / strain on the wallet will not be there.

Diecastairplanes.com has the MH-60 for $179.95 but if you enter coupon code DACDISCOUNT you get 10% off and shipping is free for over $100 orders - so total is down to $161.95.

http://www.diecastairplane.com/store/p/60759-MH-60-Black-Hawk-Helicopter-1-18-.html

Maybe some of you guys can take advantage of this - I'm still waiting for Pickel to get to the DAP mods so I can finally update my last remaining BBI pavehawk that's been sitting in a box for 4 years. I still think the pavehawk with Pickel's mods will look better than this new BBI nighthawk.

I didn't see anything about vouchers for blowjobs, or coupon booklets for reach-arounds, so this is still a pass.

man theres a lot of idiots out there...only 8 of 'em left at BBTS...glad i'm not that desperate

Being one of the desperate idiots out there, I've got to ask. Whats the most you ever spent on a single "toy"?

Mine was probably my '94 jeep. Over $15k invested for something I only drove on the weekends and then it was rock crawling and flipping it over... for fun only to fix it up and do it all over again. Great fun, met great people and have tons of fond memories. Had that jeep for about 5 years before I moved on to a newer one. My newest toy is an '04 jeep that just got some new shoes (BF Goodrich Krawlers) at $420 bucks a pop (x5, do the math). Aside from the jeeps, bikes, guns and other crap I waste money on, I don't feel a bit desperate or idiotic for dropping $170 on a well built plastic replica that will last. Wish I could say the same for the motherboard I just bought, it replaced one from just 3 years ago that just can't keep up. $300 for that one, and now all it is is a paperweight.

I'm not bragging, just that's what I'm into. What about the rest of you? What do you blow your money on that isn't a necessity? Be honest, you can't justify a $170 for the black hawk but what else do you buy you just can't live without? I'm talking wants, not needs.

I'm gonna let Eddie take this one, other than a car should never be compared to a stupid toy helicopter of questionable accuracy (something kind of important when were nearing the 2 century mark price-point) who's only use is gonna be an occasional dio picture and a dusting.

My '48 Plymouth has cost a lot more than my 1:18 junk, and gets used far less, but I'd never compare it to something that only man-children give a fuck about at the end of the day.

Here is a couple of pics of my hat collection. As my wife calls them. I have not collected anything for a few years now. With the prices these things are fetching I fear that I will no longer be able to add to the collection,.

Easily my guns. Most I've spent on one of those at a time was 2k. If you were to add up the other guns and ammo and range fees, it would be a lot more than that.

That's a lot of "hats!" Any idea of what all those would fetch if you were to sell?

Similar on the guns + ammo + range. Easily dwarfs my plastic scale items (Joe and otherwise).

sorry man, i wasn't meaning to offend...but KNOWING that Bbi IS way overcharging for these, kinda makes me scratch my head when people still pick them up...

to answer your question, its definitely my car...i've foolishly "invested" way more money into it than anything else i own...i say foolishly since its something that will only depreciate in value...and like K-T, i rarely drive it...not even once this year :(

That is a lot of cool hats. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want the one with the EGA on it. ;)

Yeah.. the ammo and the gun purchases I don't mind, but the range fees kill me. Kind of sucks that all the nice, cheap places are far away, and all the shitty, high priced places are close by. It's almost worth the hour drive for the nice "donation" places.

No worries, no reason to be sorry. Its just thats my point. We all justify things we have interest in wheather we "need" it or not. I wouldn't have looked twice at the new Bhawk but after losing mine its left something of a "terrordrome" hole in my interest collection and I regret ever having to get rid of it. I loved having the original (got it for like $40) and don't get me wrong, there is a part in me that says "dude, its a piece of plastic thats just going to sit inside" but that voice wants me to drop more money in my jeep so I figure is the lesser of two evils. :) So yeah, I totally agree that bbi is overcharging and as you can tell people will pay it.

Hell the tank has a thread called "Collection Milestones".

http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...ection-milestones-achievements-goals-etc.html

A perfect example of what one persons trash is another treasure. Some will spend a small fortune on things others would say is a waste of money. But in the long run what is it? What each individual wants and what they are willing to pay for it. Ahh, capitalism. BBi is in it to make money, why make 4000 of a certain model but then only sell it for $50 when the consumer will turn around and sell if for 2 to 3 times as much?

Anyway, for me it boils down to needs and wants. What you need and have to provide for but once thats met... blow the rest on your wants. Be it a car thats special to you that you can't/won't/don't drive or a plastic wirrly bird that you have to dust when you get around to it. Either way, its your money. And this isn't directed at any once person, but if you can't afford something, why bitch about it when others can? I'd love to have a FordGT but I don't get on Jay Leno's facebook page and say what a douche he is paying those prices so the rest of us can't afford it. To me, it just doesn't make sense.

Oh, Eddie... will you post pictures of said car? I'd like to know just what makes you tick! What is it about this car that you keep investing in it?

To me, that is impressive! Love it! Do you give tours? Cause I would love to see those up close! I like the shelving, impressive as well. What year is that diving helmet?

Saw this one on ebay, damn!:

wasn't just me, but my friend who has a store and wanted to make a big sale/trade through him and was just down the street. This guy is online only, and my friend is a B&M store, and told him he HAD to deal through the website AND have it delivered, 2 fucking blocks which would have cost over $200 shipping per his site.

My friend sees him all the time at the same damn post office every day as they both ship shit daily.

Basically my friend wanted some of the newest 2pack joes that were out at the time back around VnV, and was going to trade a bunch of vintage stuff for it. This guy wanted him to ship the vintage to him, he will inspect it, price it, and then ship him the stuff he wanted. He could have easily drove 2 blocks to the store, with his shit, looked at it all, and swapped.

That's just one of the instances. I had a run in too of the same variety when I wanted to buy a bunch of 1:18 stuff from him and offered to pay less than shipping but actually meet him AT the post office without having to actually box the stuff up, and he said no. he HAS to ship it. I was ordering over $200 worth of shit too.

Bitter? no.

At maximum, punch his lights out.

At minimum, slash his tires.

The choice is yours.

Stop giving Eddie ideas!!!

you know, i think its the same thing that makes us all keep spending money on things we might otherwise not...seeing and hearing/talking about it constantly makes us want it more...being on here all the time seeing other toys that i normally wouldn't see peaks my interest and i buy it...

thats what happened with my Mustang GT, droptop...i got it when i was 18...just got a full time job with Ford and had a$$ loads of money to burn...i paid it off in 4 years...and i had every Stang subscription...and my best buddy was a bit older and a freaking race car mechanic/genious...so with that combination, my car received EVERY possible 4.6 engine upgrade...new wheels, hood, blah blah blah, EVERYTHING!...a giant money pit...now so many years later, i can't part with it...its been thru so much with me, and like i said, i'll NEVER get back what i put into it...

Don't feel bad. Watch Barrett-Jackson auctions knowing that there are many cars that go across the block that don't pull back their restoration costs.

As far as price goes everything has tripled in price since I have bought any.

The cheapest I have is fetching about $650 on e-bay the most expensive is well over $3,600. That's dollars. I have right at 85 pieces.

The diving helmet is a repro. It has original parts on a repro copper body. Those are selling for over $700. The date on the original plate is 1942.

The Spanish comb helmet is also a repro. Everything else is original.

I took all of the spike to the Hun's hose for safe keeping after they let us back in our house after Katrina. They gave you a day to check out the damage then they made you leave. So I gathered them all up and took them to the Hun's house.

After we got back I took them out and put them on their shelves and have not touched them since.

THEY COULD USE A GOOD DUSTING.

Where do you see EGA ?

I'll be interested to see what they are offering with this mark up. What could they even offer up? Maybe parts to make it a stealth version? :D One can dream.....

If you're lucky they did a fuel probe.

It's probably the extra crew figures and the brass ejection tubes for the 134s. The stealth version they crashed would require an entirely new fuselage mold, much like an AH-1Z would.
