Rigid Soft Goods: Capes and such

More color wash and shaping. I mixed the wash at about 1 part paint to 2 parts isopropyl alcohol. Dries a little faster this way. I did 3 coats of the wash, tweaking the shape each time. Now, I'm ready to start painting the figure. I really recommend doing the soft goods before painting the...

Rigid Soft Goods: Capes and such

So, I have been asked to show how I made the cape/poncho that is on a figure of a Jedi I made. Being that everyone here is so nice, sharing is the least I can do. Welcome to my Workspace. I'll be writing this as I make the figure, so, you won't get to see the finished product until I do...

    Jedi Pin-up Girl

Thanks, guys. I'll see what I can do about a tutorial. As for the paints and such, they are all done with a brush. I use Model Masters (the flesh tone is light base) mostly, though for metallics I like Tamiya. The shaping on the legs was done with a Dremel and J.B. Weld. Here is a recipe...

    Jedi Pin-up Girl

Thanks guys. As far as what's "under the hood", the clothing is removable and the figure is anatomically correct. I didn't go painting pubes or anything, but the fig does have nipples (I just stuck some straight pins in and trimmed them). I should have taken some WIP shots. I guess I get too...

    Jedi Pin-up Girl

The cloak is cotton soaked in acrylic and shaped over a figure once it dries it holds it's shape and can be painted yet remains flexible. Sorry I didn't take any "Art Studies" of her.

    Jedi Pin-up Girl

I had been looking for a decent figure to make a nude female for a while and I got my hands on a MU Scarlet Witch. I had to do a lot of work on the legs, but they articulate like a G.I. Joe now. The range of motion isn't great, but she can spread her legs. What more do you really need. The Light...

    My first custom vehicle

Looks good to me. I'm certain the kid is gonna flip over it. He'll be bragging to all his friends about the sweet custom set his dad made. Nice work.

    Fantasy Characters

I have quite the backlog of projects actually. Poor Tria probably thinks I forgot all about his set. But yeah, I'm working on getting some parts picked out. I was thinking about doing a female magic user. I never played this game so I don't know what all the classes are. I'd love more info on...

Impressive. I'd like to see some video of you scratch building, though, we would likely need to watch it in slow motion.:D

    StarWarsGeek custom casts

Easiest thing to do would be to build a hilt around one. I think there are 2.5 or 3 mm LEDs. Then attach a blade. Getting power to it is a whole other ball of wax.

    Fantasy Characters

That's awesome. I'm digging on the Fantasy Sci-Fi tip myself, lately. I might have to make you a figure for your game.

    StarWarsGeek custom casts

I could make hilts, it's the clear blades I would need more of. I guess they don't really need to be clear though. Im still debating on that. I am very certain on wanting the old school colors. Cyan, red-orange and viridian. What would be really neat is to have the saber cast with LEDs in them...

    StarWarsGeek custom casts

Not really, I mean take X blue saber and a cast it in Y color. For instance, Cast Yoda's short saber in red, or Darth Maul's double saber in green. Maybe a mold with a bunch of sabers in it and cast sets in different colors? I don't know, I have never done it, so, I have no clue. I was just...

    StarWarsGeek custom casts

Need more color and hilt choices. I would also like to have some in the old colors. Back in the day the blue saber was really cyan and red was more of a red-orange. They had these colors in KotOR 2 which I thought was really cool. I can always paint the blades I guess. I was just wondering if...
