I just love that they're, what, less than 3 weeks from the event and still haven't managed to get registration up?

No physical pics of the con sets, yet, either. Something's fucky.

When did they finally get things together last year? This whole scenario feels awfully familiar.

How do they manage to have this same issue year after year?

They've announced items that didn't pan out (Tanks for the Memories Maulers), but I don't think there's not been an exclusive at all, at least not for the last 15 years or so.

God this is so pathetic its awesome. They are putting their faith in people to follow those directions?

Hello everyone,
At this point, we have very little faith that the programming company will finish the new software enough for registration to take place with the new version. We are very disappointed in this company and will be taking the appropriate action after the convention. We are diligently working on implementing our back-up plan.
We are planning to bring one or the other online either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. Please note that non-attending packages will NOT be available until we close the attending registrations (which will only be open a few days).
Unfortunately the backup solution doesn't have total flexibility to edit registration mistakes as it is half computer and half manual. Therefore, please read the brochure again. Go slowly during the registration process, and please DON"T pick the wrong items that are not allowed per the brochure. We will review and approve or disapprove each registration. The only option we have for errors is to delete the registration and let you start over, which could cause a supply issue if someone else gets the item before you re-register.
Just a quick note on some of the rules:
Golden Ticket packages can only have 1 GT Aide with them.
Golden Ticket packages can order the other boxed sets as well if they want more than one boxed set.
American Hero and/or General's packages can have up to 4 aides.
For the 3 3/4" loose sets, you are only allowed one loose figure set per boxed set.
Don't pick the Thursday Class and the Thursday Walking Tour as you can't be in 2 paces at the same time.
Please make sure you put in the proper field (on the registration) all of the package holder's name(s) and which package they are assigned to.
The software doesn't know any of these rules, so it's up to you to follow them (as we do know the rules).
Thanks for your patience and I assure you we are more upset than you are....
Brian
PS. The store will be offline until after registration is complete.

Isn't this the exact same thing as last year?
Are we to believe these are the exact same company they hired last year? or a completely different company which did the exact same thing???

pretty sure it's the exact same thing as EVERY year. GIJCC = :headinsand:

Now there's an image floating through the facebook groups with Larry Hama's comment saying he really wish he could have went to JoeCon, but the invitation came way too late and he was already booked for another gig. How the fuck do you not get invitations out to all of the VIPs to the relatively small circle of Joe-related celebrities as soon as you book a fucking date?

Seriously, how hard of a fucking job is it to run a couple of fan groups?

This leads me to believe they start working on registration 1 month before the show, every year.

Well they spend the first 5 months of the year doing whatever they can to lose all feeling in their hands and making them swell up, then the next month ham-fisting FSS figures into boxes that are too small, so clearly they only have 5 more months left to blame China, and thus they're left with that last-minute 30 day window.

You can't blame them really, it's not like they've done this before so they know what to expect.

Eh, If it were me I'd be on the phone the Monday after the con sussing out venues and dates for the next. After that I would have the fucking registration program nailed down. Then I'd worry about the figures.

But what do I know? I'm just an interwebnets troll.

I am skipping SDCC this year and was briefly considering going... But nope. I'm not booking a hotel and flight for something the idiots can't even get registration up for in proper advance.

I have toyed with the idea of either leaving here Friday and driving over and hanging out Saturday or going and returning on Saturday since it is only a 3 hour drive from here...I just don't know if it is worth it. Not interested in the con set at all. Any one have input on if it is worth the drive? My sons say they want to go...we have been to Coil Con once and all the Assembly Required events here in Iowa...

I would go if it was within driving distance, but otherwise it is not worth it. The best part for me was the Hasbro booth.

Tiger Force could've been cool if they stuck to more of the Duke/Flint (green/brown with black stripes) deco, but all that goofy fucking yellow is just dumb. I had the same issue with Night Force. Psyche-Out and Repeater look awesome, but the rest look stupid as hell.

I mean, if there was a "Rainbow Rescue" team, that'd make sense to be garish but as it is, the whole special mission team is just a silly idea. I know that sense didn't matter and they were merely designed to sell toys to children, but I just wish they'd had cooler decos. Lifeline in actual military colors could be awesome.

I do have a love/hate relationship with Tiger Force.

It allowed me the opportunity to grab up some characters I didn't have a chance to get.

On the hand, after about 5-6 years of 100% original sculpts, Hasbro discovered repaints and reused molds sell as much without being as costly. It took a few more years, but they adopted this.
