That's cool. I have several non-tf-ing reshells I'm planning on doing. 1/24 kit? Your problem is likely to be the width of the chest/hood. Z cars are really narrow compared to... everything. Anything in the same scale might be an odd fit. Maybe one of the lambos would work better, as they have much wider chests.

It's a 1/25th kit, but yeah, the width is on my mind...but I'm hell bent on making it work. 
The reason I choose the Z base was because I like the way it transforms and shows off so much more of the alt mode compared to the Lambo base in bot mode...the rear of the BTTF Delorean is the most interesting part of the vehicle and it ends up facing forward...the Lambos vehicle rear faces backwards in bot mode...also, the front of the alt mode faces out with the Z base...with the Lambo base, it faces down...and then there's the gull wing doors...using the Z base lets me show them off better, though, I'm still not sure how I'll have them attached...
I'm also not sure if I'll leave the big exhausts on the top of the feet or have them fold up to in front of the knees...I'm leaning towards on top of the feet, but I'm not sure if it'll look silly that way...
Also not sure if I want to keep the Bluestreak head and have him reimagined as the Delorean...or if I was to make a new head (somehow) and give him a new name like Gigawatt, Flux or Mr. Fusion.

Oh, no question that the Z 'bot shows off the car more. The reshells I have planned will likely use that base as well. But... if the chest is a big problem, the lambo might be a workable option... or if you're not trying to transform it, you could do a lambo torso and Z legs.
If I have to cut it, fill it, sand it to make it work, I will...it is happening.

Got Prowl and Smokescreen today...cool little figures but I don't think they would be worth the $70+ TT/Hasbro/retail want for them...

First solid number since MP-02 that I'll be skipping, along with Star Saber. I guess since he's got new sculpting on the head and a totally different character is why he got his own number, but it's weird they're wasting a solid MP number slot on something that should be an eHobby exclusive.

I'm not going to lie, Marlboro Wheeljack is one of the few non-G1 repaints I would ever consider. I always liked the color scheme. However, I don't like that they made him a decepticon, I'm not sold on the new head, and the excessive amount of blue parts really turn me off.

I was just coming to ask if they are making characters up for the MP line after getting the preorder notification from bbts. I'm going to take a wild guess the fans choice MP competition was only in Japan and we Starsaber as our winner? I'm fairly certain no Americans are voting for a character that was never here and looks like a gobot fucked a power ranger. Pretty sure we would have voted for a new geewun Megs or an official Shockwave. How about Skyfire? (or is the leader class one going to fill in?)
Dammit, Fans Toys can make one hell of an MP. They're about the only guys out there who are showing work that is Takara-MP-quality (or maybe better?) besides maaaaybe Omnigonix's new Sunstreaker. Badcube's Brawny's a decent representation and stand-in, but not quite perfect. But this is ridiculous:

Call me crazy, but I'm not terrible concerned with individually-articulated fingers for the cars. I think it's overkill for the scale that they are. Besides, I'm OCD about consistency, and would want them for all the other cars, too. Now, I may want upgraded hands for BB, so that his hands actually HAVE articulation, but the only ones I'm okay with having extra articulation are the Dinobots, and they're pretty huge.

But seriously, if they're only ever going to hold their weapons, then the stock hands are fine. But if you want Prowl to wag his finger at someone for being a slacker or Bluestreak to flip Megatron the bird, then you really need an upgraded hand.
And I don't give a damn about making them all the same. I certainly wouldn't hamstring my figures for the sake of consistency.
If the MP line has taught me anything, it's how incredibly apathetic I am about '85 characters. Sideswipe, Bluestreak, and Prowl sit on my shelf and fill me with nostalgic pride every time I see them. Then I pan over to Red Alert and Smokescreen and think, "You poor ill-conceived repaint bastards."
I'm a fan of all TFs that appeared right up until Optimus Prime gets killed in TF:TM, minus maybe Blurr/Wheelie, and perhaps Kup. The grumpy-old-cunt shtick worked much better for Ironhide, who had way more personality and turned into a real vehicle instead of something that was a mix between a space pinewood derby car and a bar of goddamn soap. I like UM, Springer, Hot Rod and Arcee, but fuck anything else from Season 3-forward. So I'm giddy for anything from S1-2, including those '85 fuckers.
Some of those '85 characters were complete shit. Grapple? Hoist? Powerglide? It's like writers sat in a room and tried to make them as annoying as humanly possible.

Right... I forgot about some of those guys. I hate Powerglide, Cosmos, Skylynx, that blue/yellow hovercraft... But for every one of them, there's a Beachcomber or Smokescreen that I liked for some reason... Especially the Coneheads. And Ratchet and Ironhide kicked ass in the cartoon... The toys were trash, of course. But they're at the top of my wish list.

I assume so, but I haven't put them on yet. I just opened my z-cars two days ago... they've been in storage with all my other toys since they were released! I'm slowly opening my MPs and trying to figure out how to display them.

I actually had the weird bat-looking-thing as a kid and knew it was part of a combiner, but had no idea wtf it went to because I apparently got it when I was younger and didn't keep the bio or catalog stuff like I did after I was 6 or 7. Boy did I hate that fucking thing. It was literally a box with wings/limbs and a head attached to a brick that extended about .5" to create something of a "waist" or upper legs. The only reason I even played with it was because it turned into something I pretended was a mutated version of Ratbat.
Doesn't that describe most scramble city combiners? Just change wings/limbs for any number of vehicle parts like rotors, sirens, turrets, etc. :lmao:
I like the Terrorcons/Abominus. I think it's because I dig monsters and robots and they made them into one. Kinda like Monstructor, too.
I ended up finding a video review...they work just fine in alt mode.
Pretty cool, but I'm glad I'm not big on beast/animal formers...

I gave up trying to get it to be able to transform...the wheel bases being off by 3/4 made it too difficult...
Right now, the only "issue" I have is how, or where, I want to attach the doors...the stock location looks cool, but I was thinking it's not really Delorean accurate...attaching them accurately would make them transform like Sludges back panels...either straight out to the back, or straight up...both of those options make the doors barely visible which is unfortunate because it's such a defining feature of the Delorean...
So should I forego accuracy in favor of what looks better?

The answer is yes. If he's not going to transform, you should make him as badass looking as possible and take advantage of the freedom non-transforming allows you.

Well then, the good thing about it is, even if I did make it transform, connecting the doors in either the top accurate position or by the inaccurate typical front position would still function correctly for the transformation scheme...
And doing this one is making me want to redo the General Lee I started...I based it on Rodimus, but I don't like transformation...all the good bits aren't as visible as they would be with the Z car mold...

Yeah, I have a GL planned as well as a '77 Bandit Trans Am... and I'll try to use the Z mold for both. But the charger hood will be huge on the Z frame, so i'm not sure.
The hood length on the Charger is near identical in length to the Z hood...and the width is pretty close too...about 3/8ths total at the widest point...it's actually better than the Delorean...
You get hit more in the rear end...it's almost an additional 3/4" - 1" longer...not sure if it'd be too big a deal really...he'd just have longer "toes"...
The most extra though, is in the roof section...I'd say there's around 1" - 1 1/2" extra lenght! But that's the least worrisome...it can just be folded up or left in tact to wave the confederate flag in all it's glory.

It was an SDCC excl a few years ago, ~$60 IIRC. But I think they go for quite a bit on ebay. I actually managed to get one from HTS afterward on Refresh Monday.

Yeah, I got mine in last night. He's pretty amazing. I'm anticipating Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus, and Swoop more, though. Within 6 months, I'll also hopefully have all 3 (barring any future delays) and have Badcube's Brawn, plus maybe Snarl and Sunstreaker if they stay on schedule.
I'm hoping by then, Takara reveals who their next official releases are, and Megatron 2.0 damn well better be in the mix.
