Yeah, seeing this guy next to Ultimetal makes UM loook rather odd. His legs do not match his upper body.

Yeah, absolutely. The "It's not a transformer if it doesn't transform" crowd can go pound sand. I'll take all of the G1 characters they can possibly produce like this.

So if they did do the whole G1 cast, would you give up your current TF collection? I certainly would. I hate the multitude of scale collections I have. 1:18th, 1:6th, 1:12th, the MANY scales of TFs. If I could have a TF collection all in one scale...heaven!

I would probably still collect regular scaled MPs, and the little 3P revoltech guys. Apparently I like having everything in every scale :) I have 4" joes, I made 1.5" MP-scale joes, and if they made 6" joes, I'd get every single one. If not, I'm planning my own.

The biggest problem is display space, as my home office is already running out of room (I just custom build the house 3 years ago, and i'm wishing I had more space). I'm sorely temped to start putting toys in my office at work too. I own the company and the building, and no one but family ever sees the inside of my actual office. So it's not like a normal work "office". Hmmmmmmm.

So bring on the full line of 1:18 Non-formers. My soul is ready.

Was at Target bday shopping for my nephew when my daughter found the Black Lion from Playmates. We had no idea they were releasing toys, so needless to say, she went ballistic. We are now the proud owners of a huge black lion anxiously awaiting Voltron's limbs.

I saw those at Target too. I'm not in love with the modern take as I am with the original, but it was still cool seeing Voltron toys at retail. I had to pick up the box to see if they combined and was pleasantly surprised to see that they did.

Have you seen the new Bandai version? If I didn't already have the Masterpiece version, I'd be all over this new one.

That one looks really nice, but this black lion from Playmates is a friggin beast. He is definitely built to withstand the abuse from a young kid with his thick, heavy plastic and tight ratcheting joints. I am not a huge fan of either combined robot to be honest, but I much prefer the sculpt of the new ones in lion form to the old. Damn shame they went super sexy round torso on the new combined form instead of bringing some of the angles from the old.

Yeah, that TC and SW are both in the original early MP color schemes. But it's the seekers, and no company (official or KO) can resist putting those things out in every conceivable color scheme. The lighter blue TC and toony purple SW are coming, it's just a matter of time. I'm willing to wait.

Those prices are a bit high though. I bought my robot hero SS on ebay from bobolong4u (another account of reputable seller bababobo00712) for $108 shipped. It took a few weeks but arrived perfect, same as my FT Sovereign from the same seller.

I'm over overpaying for these damn things. I even switched all my preorders from BBTS to TCP to get the free shipping and rewards points (pick your jaw off the floor, Eddie, hell hath indeed frozen over). I'm only using BBTS for non-TF stuff that's harder to find elsewhere.

As my collection grows, I'm getting pickier and pickier about what I buy and how much I pay. Space is a premium, and I don't collect many lines just for the hell of it. It has to be something I really want. And these oversized TFs are in complete opposition to that. I have nowhere to put them, they don't fit with my MP collection, but I know if I pass on them, I'll regret it the minute they become expensive/HTF.

:lmao:

That'a boy!

The only thing I use them for is pre-ordering in case no one else lists the product I'm after OR for something I'm not 100% sure I'm gonna want. I hate asking to cancel something that I already paid for. Other than that, get bent scalpers.

Yeah, I'm waiting on SW and TC. I'm done settling. I was gonna settle for TW's Jazz, but no more. And that's even after asking MMC/OM about it and they have changed their plans for the character from "it's coming" to "we have no plans". Bummer. But yeah, no more settling. I'll go without. It's to the point with these knock-ups that I'm considering bailing on the MP sized figures.

Well, I started to keep my "unsure" pre-orders at BBTS, and then I said screw it. Everything is available at time of release, and there is always a better price from a chinese retailer, or an ebay flash sale, or some other deal. I feel like pre-ordering, even the kind where I don't pay up front, is basically for suckers unless it's a serious early-bird deal.

I bought FT Sovereign for $128 and XTB Eligos for $140 (shipped) on ebay/chimungmung respectively. That's a savings of nearly a hundred bucks off BBTS prices once you factor in their shipping. Fuck that. I still don't consider them to be scalpers, just offering a convenience and customer service (at a substantial price) that I don't need. In a decade I've never needed a replacement. I just feel like buying from BBTS is like getting the "extended warranty" at best buy... you'll never need it or use it, so why pay for it?

Yeah, so much choice makes being a picky consumer much easier. I'm getting TW's jazz for car mode and MT for bot mode. I like them both, and MMC OM products don't wow me like they do some people, so I'm not worried about their plans. And I'm sure TT would make him look toonerifically plain. Unless FT gets on the wagon, I'm good jazz-wise.

Seriously, I don't know what I'm going to do with these monsters, but I can't not buy them.

Yup. And it's even worse for me because I don't particularly care much for a character who's scale is absurd...but, c'mon! These things are insanely cool at this size!

My MAS-01 money went to laundry machine parts, so hopefully he hangs around retail for awhile or gets quickly KO'd. Just having MAS-01 & 02, I think I'd be ok with cutting most of my TFs loose. Just keep a few like Soundwave and Quakeblast for the transforming. MAS-01 & 02 would make a perfect bookend display with no need for others to be out.

I'm starting to feel the same way. Not sure I need an MP collection anymore.

I did some spring cleaning over the weekend (because it's 78-degrees in Feb... WTF!), and I'm having some serious collection doubt/guilt. I must stop. I must. As awesome is it is, I think multiple 18" transformers would push me over the edge. I have zero room for more toys. As it is, I'm building new shelves in my garage to house all the stuff I've accumulated that doesn't fit in my big closet or my storage unit.

But to what end?! Where am I going with this?! My kids don't care about any of it (they like their own stuff and have little interest in dad's), my shelves are chock-full of cool toys displayed. There is no more room. I have boxes of cases of unopened stuff in storage, literal tons of vintage ARAH stuff boxed up, as if I'm going to have to fight WWIII in my backyard... but why?

A decade ago, I used my son as an excuse to collect. But he just turned 10, and now it's just weird to collect stuff when it's obvious only I care about it.

Being in the storage business, I have a unique perspective on people and the stuff they accumulate. More than once I've been told by a retired customer, "You spend half your life acquiring stuff, and the other half trying to get rid of it." That's how I feel at the moment, like I've rounded that corner and should begin the divesting stage. It's weird though, especially when the urge to collect is far from gone. But I have to be self-aware about this stuff, as it would be foolish to ignore what I see everyday at work.

Not that I won't buy any more toys ever (I still have plenty of 3P MP & legends figures on order), but I have to scale back. I just cancelled my PO. I can't start accumulating 18" TFs, no matter how cool. There must be a line in the sand, and I think MAS just helped me find it.

Yup. Thankfully Lego seems to have ageless value and takes up little space when broken down. I have around a dozen MP class TF's, all on display since I have the perfect spot, but if I move, they go back into boxes. I feel like 2 MAS' would perfectly sum up that I love 80's TFs and could be put anywhere in the future. Voltron has taught me that an 18" robot is big enough to be displayed on the floor.

I'm just about to get a lot pickier. Space is a premium, and not that I can't afford it, but at some point, collecting way more than you can display or enjoy is just a waste that can't be justified.

It's like people with 20 cars. I love cars, racing, and have a little high-octane in my blood. But unless you're starting a museum (Leno?), what's the point? You can't drive that many or enjoy them in a practical manner. At some point, enough is enough.

For my TF collection, I'm not far from reaching the point that I have everything I actually want. I simply have to avoid talking myself into expanding beyond my stated goals.

Year ago I adopted the belief that is it wasn't on display, then what's the point? Very few things do I keep that get around this rule and those are mostly 1:16 RC tanks. I broke the rule with Lego kits and now I have built models crammed in every closet and under my bed as if I'm ever going to display them again.

Yeah, my CoD Mega Bloks Joe project has also gotten out of control. While I have most of the characters done, my plans for custom vehicles, buildings, and environments necessitated a massive buildup of parts and sets. Now I have 30-40 large unopened sets, and 20k+ loose parts, sorted in bins, taking up space as well.

And then there is my 6" Joe customization projects as well... that has resulted in buying thirty-bajillion marvel legends figures for fodder, but as of yet, no custom figures have emerged...... And my 4" customs projects, also with many hundreds of fodder figures and cast parts, but no customs.

I've come to the realization that I like planning customs and acquiring the parts WAAAAAY more than I like actually making the customs. This leads to tons of unfinished projects and a massive buildup of unused stuff.

All of that, yes! I have more things (and even more desires) than I have space to SEE them. It has to stop. And that's in conjunction with your next point...

What are we doing, waiting for retirement to hopefully find the desire to finish these things? And IF we did finish all of the things we want to create, where in the heck would we put them?? Not only that, but we're all making museums for one single patron...ourselves. No one else gives a turd about our (pathetic) museums, lol.

And I'm bumping into another issue lately. Me and the wife aren't having children. So we have this big ole house "just in case", when we are now certain that there won't be a need. We are planning to move far away from the metro area to a place much MUCH less "urban". And we want the next place to be substantially smaller. We just don't have the need for all of this space, and that puts a "museum" in jeopardy. I may end up with zero space for my junk.

You guys need some JOE fodder? :lmao:

Holy shit, I say the exact same thing to myself regularly. You're reading my mind! Having just built the house on the family homestead, I'm not going anywhere until they wheel me out... and the house is pretty damn big, but it's not like I put this stuff on the mantle. I keep it contained to my home office and closet therein. And clearly I didn't make those big enough!

I won't get any free time until the kids are gone and I'm full-on empty-nesting. And at that point, who gives a shit? I don't want to be like the sad, old model railroad guys... part of me says this is different, and the other part says it's the exact same thing. But I can't quit cold-turkey...

Unless I can convince myself that I'm collecting for my grandchildren.... yeah, that's what I'm doing! Bring on the next wave! Order a full case! Chase that variant! I'm the king of SDCC! I win collecting! :headinsand:

Edit: Eddie, I will come see your museum. Bruderstator and I can have a beer.

Heh, I don't want to be a sad railroad guy either, and I love model railroads!. But as bad as that seems, a retiree who model railroads is waaaaaay less sad than a retiree who 80's toys. *Old man voice* "Don't touch my He-Mans!! :shakefist:"

We're headed to Gatlinburg TN this fall. You close? I'll come check out your museum. :D

Hahahaha, my kids are allowed to touch the action figures. They know that they can't run off with them and lose the pieces, but they love to play with the ones on the low shelves. My daughter currently has Zabu (from the SDCC Ka-Zar set) biting Skeletor on the leg...

Yeah, I'm like an hour or so from Gatlinburg, but I'm probably only a 30 minute detour off your route (I assume you're coming through knoxville). You're more than welcome to come check out the museum, chill on the porch with a beer, grill a steak. Dead serious, come on by.

Edit: pcs, I love that your TF's live in the kitchen! :lmao:

Yeah, TFs in the kitchen...love it! Don't cook too much greasy stuff or they'll get a film on them that'll NEVER come off.

Cooter's Place.... absolutely. Did that, got the t-shirt (literally). We go to gatlinburg about once every year or two. I went to the original Cooter's long ago, and then we took the kids to the newer one after the place outgrew the first location. It's certainly not worth a trip from michigan, but if you're already there... definitely worth dropping in.

They have lots of memorabilia, replica vehicles you can take pics with, a small indoor go-cart track, indoor mini-golf, and a gift shop where you can buy practically ANYTHING with a DoH theme. You've never seen so many non-racist rebel flags ;) It's a cool way to kill an hour.

What's bringing you down to the red states? It's gorgeous in the fall, but you have to be prepared for the traffic around Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. It's brutal when the leaves are changing, sooooo many tourists. Lots to do and see though, no doubt.

Yeah, you'll have a good time. It will have recovered from the november wildfires by then (doh!) Lots of places to eat, Ripley's Aquarium, outlet malls, outdoor-sy stuff like hiking and rafting, Dollywood amusement park. There's no shortage of stuff to do.

And pancakes... good lord, every third business is a pancake house.... retired people apparently love pancakes. My grandparents drive up there about once a month just to eat breakfast. WTF Mattel!

I'm one of those rare freaks that actually likes Kronos (that's cause for lynching "over there")... but I'm definitely getting FT-10. Truthfully, I'm used to Kronos's size to the point that this guy looks too big to me, but I'm a sucker for really well-done versions of S1 characters. I might leave Big-K with the MPs and put Phoenix with my oversized collection. Either way, I can't pass.
