Registration is now live.

I went ahead and got a boxed set and bagged, Homefront Heroes. Just not excited enough to attend this year solo. Which sort of sucks cost-wise, considering that the extra items may be worth actually getting, but at least I'm not wasting time off work and paying for a hotel and airfare.

I'll wait and go some year when the draw is better and I can get a friend to accompany me.

If the set was better I'd probably make the effort to go - it's not that far. I'm just not excited about those figures, or the ones that might be potentially at the show.

One of these years.

Well, had I gotten a reply from SDCC yet and it was a "no", I'd have gone. But I haven't heard back from my SDCC press registration yet (they're about a week past due now) so I'm just crossing my fingers that I can make it to SDCC again this year instead.

It's a much better show and I know others who are going. Although one of these days, like you, I hope to make JoeCon. Maybe they'll host it out here. San Jose would be a decent area, and not far from SF, which is more of a destination. Slightly cheaper, and more parking. I'd say SF, but it's a shitshow to host anything out here due to SF being a nightmare to organize anything in.

I mapquested the time and it shows it being 5 hours, 5 minutes from my home. I figure with it being in April and the movie stuff that will be released by then we will make it a Joe hunt all the way there.

I've never followed the Convention, so I don't know if it's ever come west or not, but an acquaintance told me that everything east of the Mississippi is run by the Irish Mob. Perhaps that's at the root of this failure to come this way.

I'm going to create a thread complaining that I couldn't get a golden ticket so I could scalp all the extras and make money. I'm done with the club! Pay attention to me :D

DAMN THEM!!! They raped my credit card and created a huge inconvenience for me by having to drive 5 hours to Indianapolis....(Bastards)

They're getting some mileage out of that damn head, eh? It's the same one used for Dice, and came on the ROC Aqua-Viper Officer. It's actually a smart reuse, because as far as I'm concerned, it's the first unique use of it on a character deserving of it. Dice never needed an identity, and I don't know why the Aqua-Viper officer got a unique head sculpt to begin with, when figures like ROC Frostbite got a reused Beachhead balaclava.

That sculpt has lost any and all detail to it. I wish they'd at least resculpted the fucking thing. As it is, it looks like it was dipped in expanding foam and then painted in blue glitter.

That body armor/gear and helmet need some fucking DETAIL.

Looks so sloppy.

It didn't loose detail, it's there alright, you just can't see it because they were too lazy to paint it. Like the Retaliation Trooper, all the little details in the sculpt that could be brought out with some colors painted here and there, with some weathering detail, would pop right out, just like the POC figures do. But no, both Hasbro and the Club seem to be getting more and more lazy, asking enthusiasts to pay more for less.

I was talking about the helmet lacking detail, not the armor. The armor is fine, it just needs detail painted. The helmet is a 30 year old sculpt.

They've usually been good about painting their details, to be honest. I think it's just because there's no existing paint template for that specific mold. The Retaliation versions of it are barren of any detail whatsoever.

Why the hell do all of the Firefighters in GI Joe have red hair?

Blowtorch, Barbeque, this tool.

Anyone have any pics of Ice Cream soldier without his helmet?

Don't think any exist. Wasn't in the comic or 'toon. Apparently there was a soldier in the Sgt. Rock comics with the same name.

I think this years set is great. Army builders, international figures, and night force modern figures so know I can add them to my night force team. Are all the figures perfect no but over half are nice and look really good. People that go to cons or buy con figures also realize once in hand they will look better.

For those going to joe con it is a blast and I look forward to it.

I could type the same thing MOST years. The OG set last year was an aberration. Once every five years they'll hit one out of the park. The rest of the time, I'm willing to let other suckers overpay for bad repaints just to keep the club alive.

I like the night force concept, but the my little pony sparkle blue on the Joes and the Neon Green and pink on the cobra side are just too much of an eye sore.

Very good point...and even last year, only the OG was good in that set...
