The detail on this monster is awesome. I didn't think that anything could be more awesome than Herc, but this thing is incredible. The bot modes are spot-on. I think I even see a smirk on Swindle's face. And it's bigger than Herc and Uranos. It's probably up there with the 3P Predakings (which I ultimately skipped BTW). I will not skip this.

Wow... Just, wow...

How much do combiners like this usually run?

You can bet it will probably be near the price of Hercules if not a little more, who runs what? At $500 for the whole set or $100 per bot?

(Might as well join in here since I'm a TF guy and Eddie sniffed me out on TFW)

I'll bet that they're $100-$125 per small bot, probably $150 for Onslaught. Easily $500+ for the set. I'm still in.

My guess too...$500-$600...these bots are about the size of TFCs figures, if not a bit larger...they came in at $100 each with shipping if you were a smart shopper...

Gawd how awesome would a boxset be?!

That is pretty impressive. I doubt I'll be able to afford it though. Even with the apparent imminent retail hiatus of Joe stuff, the MP line has me tapped.

Eddie, as for alt scale, too much would have to be changed from the original designs to make the alt modes in scale with one another. Do that and your target audience ceases to be interested. Most of the Scramble City combiners involve massive amounts of cheating. Motormaster and Groove immediately spring to mind. (Though admittedly I had to look up Groove's name. What really sprung to mind was "Fuckin Motormaster, and the motorcycle from the Protectobots, what's his name again?" :lol) Even the Constructicons' alt modes were out of scale with each other. Long Haul shouldn've been friggin enormous next to Bonecrusher, for example.

Shouldn't have, or should have? Long Haul's a mining truck, and they're usually pretty fucking huge. Some are, however, rather average when compared to other construction equipment.

This, for example: http://www.cat.com/cda/layout?m=420938&x=7

is tiny, compared to this: http://www.cat.com/cda/layout?m=413188&x=7

Then you got dozers like these: http://www.cat.com/cda/layout?m=632676&x=7

If you take that into account, a modern Devastator(aka Hercules) would have component bots/alt modes in a pretty close size to scale ratio to one another.

That's a pretty big bulldozer. :lol Sorry for the typo, meant should have. Just going by the canopy/cab size on Bonecrusher in proportion to the rest of the machine, he looks to be your run of the mill bulldozer. Which as you said would be dwarfed by a typical mining truck. If there are smaller ones, great! I'm not sure how Mixmaster and Hook would fit in with either as their cab sizes point to regular-ish stuff you can find at a typical construction site. No idea how that would scale out. In the end though its just nitpicking. If they can make the relative alt mode scales work, awesome. If not, well, blame the source material and enjoy the toys! :D

Wow, that Bruticus is simply amazing.

Hopefully this comes to fruition, as will hopefully someday be the case with the Stunticons.

DAMMIT!

MP Soundblaster. With Ratbat. Ugh.

And this will be the first original mold MP I skip, because as OCD as I am in completing my casseticons, my least-favorite one is not worth $180 to complete the set. Assholes, I didn't think they'd really do that. (Ok, I did, just was hoping against it.)

I saw that.. and I really want a Ratbat. But not for 180 bucks.

Hahaha. Apparently BBTS has heard a lot of "fuck that!" feedback, because they already lowered it. I just got a "price reduction" email.

It's gonna need to be more in the $100 range for me to even consider pissing away the money for yet another needless repaint just to get the tiny accessory bot.

Yeah. For me, I'm not all that enthusiastic about picking up the whole thing just for Ratbat. I suppose if they hit $100 or so, I might reconsider. I'm gonna hold out hope, for now, that they either release him separately later on, or that I can find him for a reasonable price on the secondary. Laughable, I know.. but I've gotten lucky before.

Yeah, I guess I'll keep an eye out on guys parting him out... But he'll be quite pricy, likely in the $100 range or worse by himself. Sigh.

This G2 Sideswipe is kind of awesome looking especially with the rocket pods and new weapons, but he holds no sentimental value. If they'd figured out a way to sneak in an alternate, removable head sculpt, I maybe would've bought him if I could've made a new badass character. Too bad the head's attached the way it is, I haven't figured out a way to easily remove that noggin without damaging the head or the body. The mold looks good in black reversed out like that.

Like a robot dinosaur next to a gigantic mini-recorder. ;)

They're about the same height, I couldn't find a pic for comparison though, and I'm not at home to snap a quick one.

So much worse than I thought...when I heard he came with Soundblaster, I somehow thought it meant Blaster...I thought it was odd that he came with a decepticon cassette...but forcing everyone to buy a sh!tty SW repaint to get the last cassette is just a total 100% d!ck move...you're pretty much paying $150+ for one little cassetticon...

I don't mind the scale shift. At least they're moving somewhat in a consistency direction...

MP-01/4/5 now are in the wrong scale to the rest (but mostly in-scale to each other in bot mode, so not a total loss displaying Prime/Megs on their own), but the rest more or less work. Grimlock is the only one that's terribly underscaled, and even then, not too badly. He should be at least a head or two taller than Prime, but winds up roughly the same height. Not the worst offense.

It's the Megs that's so much bigger that annoys the shit out of me. I really want an MP Megs 2.0 before they make anymore cars or Decepticons at this point.

I didn't quit because of the scale, it just worked out that way. I have actually sold most and am now down to Grimmy and 2 Seekers. Oh wait... One Seeker once I ship the other out. I was just wondering if a TRU Soundwave and Grimmy would look good alone together since they are my favorite characters.

If you can get him for a price you won't vomit over, do it. I haven't disliked an MP figure since Rodimus, and even he's grown on me. Rodimus is still too damn finicky, even though I've modded a few things to keep him snapped together more. I've just heard too many issues to want to risk snapping something on Soundwave that I've been too afraid to transform him yet.

I haven't transformed Rodimus OR Soundwave, though. Too nervous about breaking them. But Soundwave is pretty awesome. Besides an Megs 2.0 he was my most-wanted TF to date, since I never owned him as a kid either (same as Megatron).

I transformed Soundwave once to ship him out (kept the Hasbro cassettes, getting the TT reissue SW) and had no issues. I was careful with the leg panels as folks have broken those, and I can see how they could break. I have NO idea what people are talking about with the hips though. These were smooth as silk and no trouble whatsoever.

We pretty much knew Soundblaster and Ratbat were coming, but yeah, it still sucks. And there's NO chance of getting a good return on selling off the SB by itself. I'm still not paying $160 for it though... $130, maybe. Still too much, but Ratbat will probably hit that by himself. Hopefully HLJ comes through.
