"Just go ahead and book your flight, and if you don't get tickets to get in like you want, can we interest you in the tourism industry of Dallas?"

Hello everyone!
I want to give you an update on the registration system. The company that has been contracted for this work is still behind on their commitment to us. This project was started back at the first of the fall. We are very close to having the system operational. We will be spending the next week testing. Our current plan (unless something else breaks) is to open registration the sometime the week of the 17th. This will only leave about 2 weeks for registration to be available and we apologize for the delay.
At this point, I imagine that most all of the packages will be taken in the first 48 hours. We may delay the non-attending package registration until the attending are mostly complete. This decision has not been made. We have done this in the past for other conventions and if we go this route, each will have its own "first day" so everyone can get the first day pin or jacket (1/6th scale) that wants it.
Again, we apologize that this is taking so long as the new code is designed to fix problems the old code had. And this will solve the problems for years to come.
Thanks for your support!
Brian
Hasbro should try to take it over and just schedule it as a promotion for releases of movies, etc. if they don't have anything planned with the line, don't have it and just have people plan their own small venues without the stupid giveaway figs.
The more they let the club be the only presence of their brand, the more it will disappear.
I checked Yoje.com to see how many repaints of that flash we've gotten and I was surprised at how much of the Joe product we've gotten from the last 3 years is all shitty club stuff. It was truly sad to see.
Club email:
WOW! They gave that company waaaay too much leeway on time. I would have fired them in January and given the job to a more competent company.
All this is doing is assuring their system will crash because of the load.
I hope this will make this year's con the lowest attended ever.
Come to think of it I'm sure the company they hired was just some guy they know working from his basement.

Mandingo Rex said:Sure, if you believe that. This is an e-mail from the Club, way back on October 28th. 4.5 months ago. They hoped to have it up by Thanksgiving. When that shit wasn't live by the first week of January for an event held in April, they should've fired whatever cross-eyed monkey was scripting their registration software and hired someone else, or dusted off the half-assed software from the last 3 years that was totally re-written for each one of those years.
I work in this field (not as a developer, but WITH developers—competent developers, anyways) and it's not THAT damned hard to script a registration software.
Hello everyone!
GI Joe's 50th Birthday will be celebrated April 10-13 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
You can make your hotel reservations now by going to GIJoeCon.com. The room rate is $142 and they will require a one night's deposit with your reservation. Don't wait until the rooms are all gone!
This will be a grand celebration of the world's first action figure! More details will be available in the coming weeks at GIJoeCon.com. Soon we will start posting the convention set details and we hope to have registration up by Thanksgiving (we are currently in the middle of a total re-write of the registration system to serve you better).
See you in Dallas!
Brian
