Actually, badcube stated on their facebook page that Bombshell's knees keep drooping on the resin proto and that's why he's so ... square. They showed a pic of the cad drawing, and he's a bit taller and ... less-square? so maybe the final product will indeed end up satisfying *most* people. Some people on TFW cannot be satisfied by any TF ever produced.

Eddie, "chibi" is like "super deformed" where the body is small and the head is huge, almost baby proportions. They're "cute" for lack of a better term.

Oh, I know what that is now. Just didn't know the term for it. There's a metroplex coming out that fits the "cute" style.

Yeah, the original Bumblebee and Cliffjumper figures were considered "chibi-fied" or "Super-deformed" "penny racers".

Geez, man, Google!

I just didn't care that much. :fuckit:

Anybody have this figure and is interested in selling it and NOT trying to send their kids to medical school with the profits?

I didn't realize it was that ridiculous on the secondary market. Woof.

He looks cool, and I may have bought it but passed on it as I only really care about the S1/S2 bots, and while I had him as a kid, I don't really care to have a modern version of 'im.

I don't even know he is or any of the other throttlebots, but the combined mode looks really cool. If it wasn't for that feature, I wouldn't give two sh!ts about them.

The Hound wars have begun... and in my mind, there is already a clear winner barring some travesty of schedule or QC issues.

Anyone seen the new Gobots from Japan?
Abso-fuckin-lutely. They're incredible. I'll be on every one of these, assuming they have proper gobot decos. Leader-1, Turbo... I'm really jonsing for a Cop-Tur, as it was my very first transforming robot toy of any kind before I discovered TFs. I didn't know he was evil, just thought he looked cool. Picked him up at a Big K store (unrelated chain to K-Mart, was actually bought by WM in the early 80's).

I much prefer MTs Hound in bot mode from every angle. Plus he's got the better feet. Though I do like TFCs versions shoulders better. And I think TFC has the superior looking alt mode.

I don't think either carries the MP aesthetic very well though.

Well, I'm clearly in the MT camp. If you look at screen caps, the MT cylindrical shoulders are very toon accurate. And while the TFC alt mode is more accurate to a real world WWII jeep, the MT version is actually more accurate to the G1 toy AND the jeep iteration Hound was based on.

In robot mode, cover up the chest/grill on the TFC version and there is nothing that even clues you into who this is. It could be any generic cybertronian. MT at least gives you some visual cues on the feet, shoulders, gun, etc.

But it's the duck/clown feet on the TFC version that seal the deal. That is one of my biggest pet peeves in TFs, one that is rampant in the CHUG line, Alts too. Big flat duck feet on a ball-jointed stick that appear out of nowhere. It just ruins the whole bot for me.

I like Herc and Uranos, but TFC shit the bed on this one, IMO. MT gets the flawless victory.

Just wait and see if the KOs of the rest + combiner kibble get made, then you'll have MP sized versions.

Yeah. Same here, it's like MT's is 80% there. TFC's is barely at 50%, and that's counting the basic shape of the botmode and the vehicle looking slightly better. But the details are all wrong and I don't like those chunky paneled shoulders just like I dislike that sorta-MP Ironhide they just released pics of not long ago.

I realize I'm probably in the minority, but I liked the TFC Ironhide. I think of him as a beefy guy, almost bodyguard-esque. But hound isn't huge or strong. He's the Autobot equivalent of a park ranger. Their aesthetic works much better on IH than hound.

What would you change about the MT figure to get him above a subjective 80%?

The TFCs alt mode just looks more streamlined. The MT alt mode is all discombobulated and clunky. And the gas can that turns into a gun is super cool. But that's it for what I like better about TFCs...MTs excels everywhere else.

Yeah, those feet are gawd awful. It's such an iconic part of Hound, at least to me, and it's a shame TFC screwed that up so badly.

I also think the crotch area on MTs is better/more "MP"...is identical in style to the cars.

Just wait and see if the KOs of the rest + combiner kibble get made, then you'll have MP sized versions.

I'm actually more interested in the vehicles of this set being closer to scale of M3s cars. Scaled up, they just wouldn't fit the aesthetic of MP.

Can't quite put my finger on it. There's just something still off about the proportions or panel detailing... It's close but not quite the same as official TT ones.

Maybe in-scale with Bumblebee and in color will help... He should be somewhere taller than Bee but smaller than the cars, right? I do like the head sculpt, but the thing bugging me the most is the front grill winch. It's too cartoony or something.

I get that. It's too "soft" or something. I think that may be the biggest different between the alt modes. TFCs looks more like a model (like the official MPs) and MTs looks more cartoony overall.

MT Hound is 6.5" (16.5cm), pretty much the same as a car bot.

FT Bombshell looks really good, but I'm going to reserve judgement until we can see them both side-by-side. Badcubes' insecticons look really good too, so it'll be a tough call. Both companies have a good track record with me. I'll likely end up pre-ordering both and cancelling one set as the review copies come out and real comparisons can be made.

Height will be a big factor too. The FT bombshell looked tiny next to the dinobot. I know they aren't huge characters, but they need to be significantly larger than the FP ones, otherwise, I'll just keep my little ninjas.

Hound should be smaller than the other carbots, shouldn't he? He was always smaller in my head, anyway. I mean, he's just a Jeep, and a vintage one at that. Those things are fairly tiny.

$75 for an Insecticon is a tad much, but the FT build is already so much better than the BadCube proportions and styling, and they smartly released their "fix" of the one most lacking in the BC trio. Smart move, FT. Now the question is: purple or gray chest? My OCD wants them all to match, but at the same time be cartoon-accurate. BLARG!

Yeah, in reality, that Jeep model would be slightly smaller, but not terribly. I'd love it if he was just that tad tinier, but I'm also cool with same size. I would NOT be cool with larger.

I'll tell you what really bothers me...Bumblebee being so ridiculously tiny. So much so that I don't even care to own the figure.

Well sonofabitch. I stand corrected. Not that the animation was consistent, but I guess considering the toy was a full-sized "car" then I guess he should be.

Yeah, I wish Bumblebee was a tad larger. Not as big as the full-size cars, but even though he's accurate to the scale chart, he just seems too tiny. I always knew he was one of the smaller Autobots but I guess as a child I never realized just how tiny he was next to Prime and the other Bots.

Torn on whether or not I should pick up X-Transbots Megatron...not because I think TT will eventually do it (they will), but more because I'm not sure how badly I want him...

I don't know...I just have more stuff than I have space. I get stuff anymore and have no where to put it. :grumpy:

I'm all over it. If you have anything resembling an MP collection, this almost has to be a priority. It doesn't hurt that it looks spectacular.

Also, I'm in the camp that thinks TT won't be doing him anytime soon, at least not in his traditional G1 gun form. I think they are gun-shy (pun intended), and that it's far from a priority for them. Furthermore, they keep showing that CW tank Megatron with MP-10 in the promotional photos. Sure, it could just be for scale, but it could also be, "here you go, stop whining, you aren't getting a gun, take it or leave it". The fact that he's 40% taller than CW Prime makes you think he wasn't intended for that line at all, or that HasTak is straddling the fence and is trying to please both camps with one figure. It looks ok (nice head, terrible legs and weird gun), but I can't see it satisfying MP, CW, or CHUG collectors.

So yes, you should get Apollyon, lest he turn out like the igear coneheads or quakewave where everyone laments passing on him while secondary prices go through the roof. If it was a minor character, the decision might be muddier, but for Megs, I think it's a no-brainer.

I'm fighting the urge to buy the Apollyon, but I'm losing the fight. I have the same opinion on the CW Megs, it's nice, but it's not nice enough...

I'll definitely be getting him unless Takara announces an official one before he gets in stock. Which could be awhile depending on silly Chinese New Year and the typical 3P delay, but I think he looks great. Even if Takara announces an official one, it'll be 12-18 months given their absurd delay from announcement to launch on all new molds.

I know this gets said a lot in TF circles, but in this case, I really think it's true: Assuming it looks like the pics and the QC is good, I don't know how HasTak could improve upon it. It looks that good to me.

edit: I can't believe I wrote that about something produced by a KFC shell corp. wonders never cease.

Heh heh. I actually have a little pile going because I don't have much of a choice aside from opening a whole bunch of other accounts elsewhere. If CP carried more stuff (I don't think it's from lack of trying) I'd get everything there. But that's not the case. So right now I have the following on PO just in case a better alternative doesn't come up.

• hottoys Marty Mcfly
• hottoys BTTF Delorean
• Toyworld throttlebots (last three)
• X-Transbots Apollyon

I've had to put some of the CHUG-lovers on ignore. Now that it's dawning on them that classics are no longer the preferred product for 3P companies in favor of MPs, it is chapping them something fierce. That scaleface douchebag starts a new thread daily blaming MPs for all that's wrong in the world, but anytime you call them out, the mods swoop in. It's like the HT nazis have poisoned the mod-water.

Eddie, in case you start to waffle, look at these pics, and tell me which line you think CW Megs was designed for and that you actually think MP Megs 2.0 is really coming... FYI, you made the right call.

Note, the pics with the CHUGs shows him having weird back flaps/wings, whereas in the MP photos, they are spread out and hidden behind the arms. It looks better but probably severely hinders arm movement. Aside from the strange wings, the upper half isn't bad. The legs are atrocious, and when you look at them from the side and see that it's hollow and you can see through the tank treads, it looks even worse.

Heh...yeah, the intentions are very clear unless he's an oversized KO.

If I was an MP completionist, that embarassing thing would NOT make it into my collection. Looks super cheap next to the MPs.

I have a growing "Masterpiece-ish" collection, which is as of right now, the lambo and datsun brothers, wheeljack, krank and stax, the OS 'Nottlebots' (and I'm still hoping the KO company makes the last 3, I can give or take the combining bit), MP Soundwave and cassettes with KFC Overkill, Slugfest, Squawktalk and Beastbox, and f(x) Weirdwolf and Mindwipe, TFC Predaking and UT Abominus (2 out of 5 right now).

I'm looking forward to the MT Hound, and I kinda dig the KFC Reflector. Just waiting to see what else is in the pipeline, and hoping I have the money for it. I -want- Apollyon bad, and I got Guttur on PO.. so I'm filling shelves fast at least.
